The above twenty-three ingredients are powdered, mixed with refined honey to form pills, taken with wine. The pills should be the size of wutong seeds; take ten pills per dose, three times a day, increasing gradually to twenty pills per dose.
Indicated for severe wind-pathogen invading the Heart, causing heart pain radiating to the back, and back pain radiating to the heart; pain moving up and down between the front and back; or abdominal distension with mild pain; alternating chills and fever; mental restlessness and oppression; erratic progression and regression of symptoms; complexion appearing either cyanotic or yellow. These conditions result from excessive sexual activity leading to deficiency damage and labor injury. After intercourse, if sweat is not dried, and one uses a fan to cool down or goes out into the wind, illness ensues. The five Shu-Points are severely damaged, wind enters from the exterior, and water-dampness accumulates internally, transforming into pathogenic factors. Although the disease presents thus, dietary intake does not decrease, and sitting/lying postures remain normal, until sudden death occurs without knowing that the Five Viscera were affected by Qi. This condition is named "Xingshi" (Walking Corpse); this formula should be prepared in advance:
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) [6 fen, nodes removed], Dazao (Jujubae Fructus) [10 pieces, torn open], Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Xiongqiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, skin removed), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) [each 3 fen], Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) [5 fen].
The above sixteen ingredients are cut. Boil in 13 sheng of water. First boil Mahuang until it boils once, remove the foam on the surface. Add the remaining herbs, boil to obtain 5 sheng of liquid, filter out the dregs. Add Za Jian (date paste/concentrate) and boil to obtain 3 sheng. Divide into three doses. For the elderly, children, and those with chronic illness, take 5 he to induce sweating. Avoid raw green onions, seaweed, songcai (Chinese cabbage), raw vegetables, pork, cold water, and peach kernels.
