Ya Zui Dan Fan (Duck-bill Alum)
Pulverized into fine powder, mixed with strong vinegar and administered orally. After swallowing the medicine, gelatinous phlegm is immediately vomited out, and the symptoms naturally resolve.
Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens) 5 liang, Qing Zhu Ru (Bamboo Shavings), Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Ji Su (Elsholtziae Herba) each 2 liang; Fu Ling (Poria), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed) each 1 liang.
Take the above herbs, add eight sheng of water, decoct until two sheng five he remain. Strain off the dregs, and divide into three doses. The interval between each dose should be approximately the time it takes a person to walk seven or eight li. Avoid cold/raw foods, hot noodles, roasted meat, and oily/vinegar-based foods.
Tian Nan Xing (Arisaematis Rhizoma Preparatum) 30 pieces; Da Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Bai Fan (Alumen), Bai Yan (Halitum), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Po Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) each 4 liang; Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix) 2 liang; Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 1 liang; Da Mei Shi (Prunus mume fruit, select those that are 70% ripe) 100 pieces.
First, soak the Po Xiao in salted water for one fushi (a traditional time unit, approx. 2-4 hours). Then, pulverize the other herbs. Place the plum fruits in water, with the water level covering three finger-widths. Soak for seven days, then take out and sun-dry. Repeat the soaking and drying process until the medicinal liquid is completely dry. Finally, place the plums in a porcelain jar, seal tightly. It is best if a white frost-like coating forms on the surface. When used, wrap in cotton silk, hold in the mouth, and slowly swallow the juice. Once phlegm is discharged, the condition will heal itself.
Shan Dou Gen (Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthis Radix) each 2 qian.
Decoct in water and take orally. Two doses will result in self-healing.
The distinction between this syndrome and the previous one is as follows: The previous syndrome presents with dry mouth and tongue cracking, whereas this syndrome involves only mild thirst, a slippery tongue surface without cracks; the previous syndrome is worse in the morning and lighter at night, while this syndrome is the reverse. Since the syndromes differ, the treatment methods must also differ. The method should employ "Guiding Fire Back to its Source" (leading floating deficient fire back to the Kidney). Once the pathological fire is eliminated, the disease will naturally vanish. The formula is as follows:
Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix) each 1 liang; Fu Ling (Poria) 5 qian; Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Shan Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus) each 4 qian; Bai Jie Zi (Sinapis Semen) 3 qian; Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) 2 qian; Bei Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus) 1 qian.
Decoct in water and take orally. One dose eliminates pain and reduces swelling; two doses result in complete recovery.
Xi Niu Huang (Bovis Calculus), Long Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum) 3 li, Zhen Zhu (Margarita) 3 fen, Ren Jia Zhi (Human Nail, use female nail for male patient, male nail for female patient) 5 li, Xi Ya (Elephantis Dentis Os, calcined) 3 fen, Bi Qian (Cella Vespae, from earth walls/bricks only, not wood) 20 pieces (calcined), Qing Dai (Indicum) 6 fen.
Grind all together into a fine powder. Blow the powder onto the affected area. Extremely effective.
