Hua Tuo's Emergency Rescue Divine Formula
For those who have died by hanging, if death occurred from morning to evening, even if the body is already cold, they can certainly be revived. If death occurred from evening to morning, it is difficult to treat. This is because during the day Yang Qi is abundant and Qi flow is easy to restore; at night Yin Qi is abundant and Qi flow is difficult to restore. The treatment method is to slowly untie the rope without cutting it at either end, and lay the patient on a bed. One person steps on both shoulders, holds the hair, and does not let go. Another person presses on the upper chest and moves it repeatedly. A third person massages and stretches the arms and legs; if stiff, gradually force flexion and extension. Simultaneously press the abdomen. After about the time it takes to cook a meal, breath comes out from the mouth, breathing resumes, and eyes open. Continue traction and pressing without stopping, but do not exhaust the patient. Gradually give them porridge soup, and they will naturally recover. Alternatively, use:
Shanyang Xue (Blood of Wild Goat), Changpu (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii), Ziye (Folium Perillae) each 2 qian, Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) each 3 qian, Honghua (Flos Carthami), Zaojiaoci (Spina Gleditsiae Sinensis), Shexiang (Moschus) each 1 qian.
Grind each into powder separately, form pills with Honey (Mi) the size of a longan seed. Dissolve in Wine, place in the mouth, and insert through a Scallion Tube (Cong Guan) into the throat. They will revive shortly. This pill is extremely effective; it is best prepared on the Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Day).
Spread ash from the stove on the ground to a thickness of five cun. Place a steamer basket (Zeng) sideways on the ash. Let the deceased lie prone on the steamer, with the head slightly hanging down. Take two fangcunbi (a measure equivalent to a square inch spoonful) of fried salt, put it in a bamboo tube, and blow it into the nostrils. Water should be vomited out. After the water drains, remove the steamer, place the deceased in the ash, embrace the body to extract, and once nasal and oral passages are clear, they will revive. Or, one person carries the deceased upside down with feet over shoulders, walking about two li; then water must come out from the mouth. Then place them in the ash for half a day, letting them remain still. Then insert a pill made of Raw Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) into the nostrils; sneezing will occur and they will regain consciousness. Urgently decoct:
Renshen (Radix Ginseng) 3 qian, Fuling (Poria) 1 liang, Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Yiren (Semen Coicis), Cheqian (Herba Plantaginis) each 5 qian, Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi) 1 qian.
Decoct to obtain half a cup of liquid and administer orally; there will be no case that cannot be saved.
