Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) [preferably from Xuanzhou], Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) [each 1 liang].
Grind the above ingredients into powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 15–20 pills with warm water on an empty stomach and after meals. It also treats "ghost intercourse" (hallucinations or nocturnal emissions associated with mental disturbance) and frequent nightmares.
Chuan Lianzi (Toosendan Fructus) [10 pieces, processed], Hulusba (Fenugraeci Semen), Boshang Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus) [1 liang], Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) [0.5 liang], Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) [1 piece, processed, skin and umbilicus removed], Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum) [1 piece, roasted with vinegar until yellow], Xuanlian (Coptidis Rhizoma) [0.5 liang].
Grind the above ingredients together into powder, use wheat paste as a binder to make pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 5 pills per dose, swallowed with tea or wine as preferred.
Treats bone-steaming lao (a type of chronic consumptive disease characterized by afternoon tidal fever and heat feeling in the bones).
Qinghao (Artemisiae Annuae Herba) [1 jin, cut, cleaned to remove soil], Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) [1 liang, roasted until yellow, ground into powder], Xingren (Pruni Armeniaci Semen) [1 liang, soaked in hot water, skin and tip removed, separately ground], Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) [1 liang, rhizome removed, ground into powder, preferably from Yinzhou], Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum) [1 liang, skirt removed, soaked in vinegar, roasted until reddish-yellow, ground into powder], Honey [2 he].
First, decoct Qinghao in 5 sheng of urine from an uncircumcised boy, reduce to 1 sheng, remove the dregs of Qinghao, and pour the liquid into a clean small pot. Decoct again until it resembles thin maltose syrup. Add a little su (butter/ghee), honey, and an equal amount of the medicinal powder, and boil into an ointment/paste. Make into pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 20 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine, gradually increasing to 30 pills. Avoid pork, wheat products, and toxic foods.

Chen Jupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) [1 jin, albedo removed], Guanzi Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) [processed], Chuan Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) [roasted; these four are separately ground into fine powder], Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma) [processed], Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) [processed, skin and umbilicus removed], Bibo (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma); [these three are separately pounded and sifted], Shenqu (Mashii Fermentatum) [each 6 liang], Wutou (Aconiti Radix) [processed, boiled in water for 3–5 boils], Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) [each 1 liang], Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper/Zanthoxylum Pericarpium) [seeds removed, stir-fried until sweat appears, 1 liang], Damai (Hordei Fructus Germinatus) [4 liang], Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) [albedo removed, roasted with ginger juice; these six are separately pounded and sifted, reserving half a liang of powder].

Then add the next three ingredients, and after another ten-li walking time, add the last six ingredients. Add two bowls of wine and decoct into a paste. Remove from heat, mix evenly with the reserved Mai (wheat/barley) powder, and pound for one thousand strokes. Make into pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 20–30 pills on an empty stomach with tea or wine, and repeat at noon. Avoid raw green onions and douchi (fermented soybeans). If possible, use a silver-stone clay pot for decoction, which is ideal. Otherwise, use a clean, well-seasoned iron wok, scrubbed clean of grease. Coat the wok with real su (ghee), add wine and herbs, and decoct over low heat, stirring constantly with a silver spoon until it becomes a paste. Spread evenly on a clean plate, allow to reach appropriate hardness, pound well, and form pills by hand. Dry in the sun. Long-term use of this medicine tonifies qi, strengthens true yuan (original vitality), preserves complexion, and improves appetite.
