Zishengsheng refers to the old parasitic vine growing on the Catalpa tree. Measuring from the ground, the height should align with a person's forehead; those below this height are not used, and those above are cut to seven chi. If such length is unavailable, only three chi six cun are taken, with each segment being of this length. Vines with one branch are not taken; vines with two branches can be taken. Harvest on two auspicious days, ensuring few people witness the collection. Upon return, use a sharp porcelain shard to gently scrape off the outer yellow bark, then scrape off the middle white flesh; the inner core is discarded. Dry over a mild fire on tiles, then grind using a millstone; harvesting on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month is especially favorable.
Shusanggen (Radix Morus Albas, select large ones).
This is actually Yuanhuagen (Radix Genkwa), do not use the woody part. Harvest on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Gently wash away the soil in water. Boil light vinegar, pass the flower root through the boiling vinegar quickly until the color turns white, similar to the processing method for Shengsheng. Scrape on the day of harvest into extremely fine pieces. Take one zi amount per dose, washed down with one large cup of warm wine. Place the medicine in the cup, let it stand for a long time until flower-like particles float on the surface, then consume. The method for accelerating absorption follows the Rummen formula; for external application, Sigua juice can be used, or mixed with vinegar.
