The *Miao Ci Lun* (Treatise on Miao Acupuncture) records: If a person falls from a height, evil blood (blood outside the vessels) remains inside, causing abdominal pain and distension, and inability to urinate or defecate. In this case, one should first drink purgative medicine. This is because injury to the upper part damages the Jueyin meridians, while injury to the lower part damages the Shaoyin collaterals. Treatment involves needling the blood vessels in front of Ran Gu (BL64) below the medial malleolus of the foot until bleeding occurs; then needling the arterial pulse on the dorsum of the foot. If symptoms do not resolve, needle each of the four corners of the toenails on the big toe until bleeding occurs, then stop. Needle the right side for left-sided injuries, and the left side for right-sided injuries. If accompanied by sadness, fright, and unhappiness, use the same needling method.
[Danggui Daozhi San (Angelica Sinensis Decoction for Guiding Stasis)] treats traumatic injuries, bruising from falling off horses or carts due to blood stasis, constipation, local redness and swelling or dark cyanosis, severe pain even leading to fainting, and internal accumulation of blood stasis causing extreme suffering.
Ingredients: Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 3 liang), Shexiang (Moschus, a small amount, separately ground).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, mix with Shexiang evenly. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with one zhan of hot wine, taken before meals. After the internal blood stasis is expelled, if bone joint injuries or fractures occur with unbearable pain, treat with Dingtong Jiangu Zijin Dan.

The *Huangdi Zhenjing* (Yellow Emperor's Classic of Acupuncture) states: When someone falls from a height, evil blood remains inside, or due to great anger, qi rises but does not descend, damaging the hypochondrium thereby injuring the Liver. The Liver and Gallbladder meridians both run through the hypochondrium, belonging to Jueyin and Shaoyang. Therefore, Chaihu is used as the guiding herb and sovereign drug; Danggui is used to harmonize the blood vessels; since urgency causes pain, Gancao relieves urgency and also generates new blood; sweet flavor generates blood, and when Yang grows, Yin follows, so it serves as the minister drug; Chuanshanjia, Gualougen, Taoren, and Honghua break blood and moisten blood, serving as assistant drugs; Dahuang processed with wine sweeps away bad blood, serving as envoy drug. The flavors combine so that qi and blood return to their proper places, and pain naturally disappears.
