Treating Back Carbuncle (Severe carbuncle on the back): Use 100 live snails, place them in a clean bottle, add one cup of freshly drawn well water, soak and seal the bottle tightly from evening until morning. Remove the snails and discard them, (retain the infused liquid).
Treating abscesses, back carbuncles, and early-stage breast inflammation presenting with slight redness: Crush Trichosanthes fruit (Gualou) into powder, take one fangchi (a square-inch measure) mixed with well water.
Treating abscesses: Mix Fire Dragon Liver (Zao Xin Tu, hearth soil) with garlic to form a paste, apply to the affected area, and replace when dry.
Treating Back Carbuncle: Mix three liang of Licorice root powder (Gancao) with nine liang of barley flour and a small amount of high-quality butter/ghee. Knead evenly with boiling water to form a cake larger than the wound by one circumference, (apply to the lesion).
Treating swelling and toxicity: Crush Burdock root (Niubangzi gen) with salt crystals, apply as a poultice to the swollen area.
Treating Back Carbuncle and various abscesses that have not yet formed a head/pus point: Place wet paper over the affected area; moxibustion should be applied to the first part to dry out. If pain is present initially, moxa until pain ceases; if no pain initially, moxa until pain appears.
Treaching carbuncles, ulcers, and malignant sores with unceasing pus and blood: Wash Eucommia bark (Digupi), scrape off the rough outer bark, keeping only the fine white inner layer. Boil the scraped rough bark with Digupi to make a decoction for washing the sore, (to stop pus and bleeding).
