The secret transmission from the former master, the *Shenying Jing* (Divine Response Classic), employs the Taiyi Tongxuan (Great One Penetrating Mystery) acupuncture method, which is most efficacious. Every word in it constitutes a profound classic; even ten thousand taels of gold would be insufficient to learn it. I never forget its many verified effects, keeping the divine healing in mind. Warm the needle in the mouth before insertion, and carefully observe the patient’s pulse to assess floating (superficial) or sunken (deep) qualities. For Yin disorders, use Yang meridians; for Yang disorders, use Yin meridians—clearly selecting Yin-Yang acupoints to achieve miraculous results. Deficiency syndromes require tonification, excess syndromes require sedation; when Qi arrives at the needle, the root of the disease is severed. The arrival of Qi feels like the tail of a swinging dragon; if Qi has not arrived, pause the needle and wait. Whenever manipulating the needle, one must first grasp the essential principles, as Xi Hong clearly explained these mysteries. If Qi does not reach the Dazhuan (LU22) area between the two breasts, needle Lieque (LU7). Lieque treats headaches, including lateral and frontal types; heavy sedation of Dazhuan yields no failure. For deafness, Qi obstruction, and persistent wheezing, seeking Zusanli (ST36) is necessary for recovery. For hand spasms and unbearable dorsal foot pain, Hegu (LI4) should still be combined with sedation of Taichong (LR3). Quchi (LI11) governs arm dysfunction; when needling Hegu, proceed with care. Heartache with hand tremors points to Shaohai (HT3); to eradicate the root, needle Yinshi (ST33). If bilateral deafness results from Shanghan (Cold Damage), Ermen (TE22) and Tinghui (GB2) act swiftly like wind. For five types of elbow pain, needle Chize (LU5); a single insertion into Lengyuan (SI10) yields divine efficacy. Shousanli (LI10) and Zusanli (ST36) treat food stagnation,痞块 (masses), and Qi accumulation. Jiwei (CV15) alone treats five types of epilepsy; needling Yongquan (KI1) prevents death. Generally, 痞 (fullness/masses) are best treated by acupuncture; acupoint selection requires careful attention. Press the area with your hand; if there is no movement, needle towards the center at varying depths. Gastric accumulation calls for Xuanji (CV15); the profound efficacy of Zusanli (ST36) is unknown to many. Yinlingquan (SP9) governs chest fullness; needling Chengshan (BL57) aids digestion. Combining Dazhui (GV14) with Changqiang (GV1) instantly resolves Xiao Chang Qi Man (Small Intestine Qi distension). Qichong (ST30) requires skilled palpation; assuredly, the divine needle will be praised. Weizhong (BL40) treats lower back pain; for swollen feet and knees, seek Zhiyin (BL67). Dryness, dampness, wind-toxin, and stagnant Qi follow this profound principle. Qi attacking the lower back causing inability to stand: Henggu (KI12) and Dadu (SP13) are suitable for emergency relief. If bleeding attacks and interpretation is delayed, Wind syndromes may arise. Qihai (CV6) specifically treats Wulin (five types of strangury); tonifying Zusanli (ST36) is as effective as a god. It treats both cold and heat conditions, rooting out chronic turbid discharge. Qimen (LR14) treats Shanghan patients after seven days when the meridian phase has passed and hyperactivity persists without sweating. Between the ribs below the nipples, inserting four fen deep restores strength. Tinnitus like cicadas and waist feeling like breaking: clearly, this refers to Zusanli (ST36). If tonification and sedation are applied to Wuhui (CV13), do not easily share this knowledge. Who can regulate tooth-wind headache? Erjian (LI2) is indispensable. Sanjian (LI3) is also miraculous for shoulder and back wind-lao (chronic strain). Needling Hegu follows the flow of Qi; within the Spleen meridian, guide Qi to converge. Cold diseases require needling Hegu; only sedation of Yinjiao (KI7) on the foot is appropriate. General back and spine pain: needle Jianjing (GB21); failing to sedate Zusanli causes chest stuffiness. Pain in both arms and thighs: a golden needle acts like a sage. For foot and knee pain, Weizhong is suitable; for spasms, apply the Fengzhen (sharp needle). Finding Yinlingquan allows light steps faster than flying. How difficult is it to treat lower back and abdominal fullness? Combine Zusanli, abdominal points, and Chengshan. Further apply tonification/sedation to Taichong; finger numbness disappears instantly. Scalp muscle twitching in the Yufuli region also treats back carbuncles and groin abscesses. Another excellent point is Yanglingquan (GB34), taking divine effect for leg cramps. Intestinal pain is moistened by Yinlingquan; tinnitus is summoned by Tinghui. Seek the excellent point Daxi (KI4); in medical practice, sedation is superior. For floating and sunken abdominal distension, sedate Shuifen (CV9); for rapid breathing and coarse qi, sedate Zusanli. Needle Yingu (KI10) in the knee; dripping urine vanishes naturally. Huantiao (GB30) removes thigh and leg wind; it treats cold wind knee bi, malaria, etc. The best point to find accurately is Fengchi (GB20); double insertion into Jianshi (PC5) yields divine power. On the first day of Shanghan, regulate Fengfu (GV16); on the second day of Shaoyang, select Fengchi. After three, five, or seven days when the meridian phase has passed, following this acupuncture ensures no failure. Heartache and vomiting: Shangwan (CV13) is suitable; Fenglong (ST40) leaves no doubt. Ascaris expulsion in Shanghan: golden needles should be used, revealing the wise physician. For men’s 癖 (masses), select Shaoshang (LU11); for women’s blood and Qi issues, Yinjiao is indicated. For deficiency and night sweats, tonification is required; Weizhong’s excellence is spread far. Neck stiffness, swelling, pain, difficulty bending/extending, accompanied by heavy body and back paralysis: select Shugu (BL65) and Zusanli, bringing immediate joy to you. Sprain or injury to the spine and waist making turning difficult, walking heavily and painfully: generalized wandering wind causing edema; a single needle into Fuliu (KI7) brings admiration. Chronic lower back pain and scapular strain: seek Zhongzhu (GB25) for regulation. Carefully search while manipulating the needle; assuredly, your insight will improve from now on. Unceasing pain connecting lower back, back, and navel: Shousanli is sought. Before the divine needle emerges, urgent sedation is needed; once Qi arrives, do not retain. Hard-to-treat lower abdominal constipation: Qihai, Zhongji (CV3), and Jianshi are suitable. Clearly apply tonification/sedation to Zusanli; needle insertion must not deviate by a hair’s breadth.
