For pruritus caused by stagnant heat generating wind, it is appropriate to employ methods of clearing heat, dispersing wind, and cooling blood; the therapeutic approach of Zhang Zihe (Zhang Congzheng) is exquisite. The *Classic of Medicine* (*Huangdi Neijing*) states: "All forms of itching are attributed to deficiency." The Lung governs Qi and is responsible for distributing it to the skin and hair follicles. If itching arises from the obstruction of Lung Qi, supplementation with herbs such as Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Renshen (Ginseng), [character missing in original text, likely a tonifying herb], and Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) is indicated. If Wei Yang (Defensive Yang) is solidly closed at the Couli (interstices), leading to heat stagnation and disharmony of Wei Qi, manifesting as an excess pattern, formulas that regulate Qi, harmonize Blood, and dissipate stagnation should be used.
**Xuanshen Shengma Decoction**: Treats unbearable pruritus caused by wind affecting the skin.
Ingredients: Xuanshen (Scrophularia Root), Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome), Baizhu (Angelica Dahurica Root) (each 1 qian); Chantui (Cicada Slough), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Gancao (Licorice Root), Huang [character missing, likely Huangqi/Astragalus] (each 0.7 qian). Add one cun length of Congbai (Green Onion Stem), decoct in water, and take orally.
**Xiaofeng San**:
Fresh leaves of Bohe (Mint) from Suzhou, Chantui (Cicada Slough) (heads, feet, and soil removed, washed clean, equal parts).
Grind into fine powder. Take 2 qian with warm wine long after meals.
**Fangtong Tongsheng San**: Treats pruritus caused by wind on the skin. It is optimal to consume hot soup immediately after taking this medicine to induce sweating.
**Jiawei Buzhong Yiqi Tang**: Treats insufficiency of Middle Qi and unsmooth flow of Wei Qi, resulting in pruritus.
Ingredients: Renshen (Ginseng), Huang [character missing, likely Huangqi/Astragalus], Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) (each 1 qian); Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), Gancao (Licorice Root), Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Baizhu (Angelica Dahurica Root), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome) (each 0.5 qian).

Use 3 liang per dose, decoct in one bucket of water, strain, and bathe several times until self-healed.
**Shiguogong Qinjiu Xianfang**: Treats pruritus caused by wind on the skin. Take orally several times a day until self-healed. (See section on Wind Gate.)
**Zhufeng Yingxiao Jiu**: (See section on Li Jie Feng Gate.)
**Digang Qingteng Gao**: Take 3 spoons mixed with wine each time, administer before going to bed.
When wind qi carries heat and stagnates in the Couli (interstices) without being able to disperse, it manifests on the skin. If there is no redness or swelling, but only raised granules accompanied by itching, it is termed Bi (obstruction/numbness). If slight traces are visible on the skin, it is termed Yin Zhen (urticaria/hives). These are all caused by wind-heat stagnating and failing to disperse. Some cases arise from catching wind during bathing or exposure to cold after sweating, classified as carrying summer-heat warmth. If prolonged and unresolved, it must develop into sores, rashes, or erysipelas, progressing from mild to severe; this progression must not be ignored.
**Jiawei Qianghuo San**: Treats urticaria caused by external invasion of wind-cold-damp-heat attacking the skin and muscles.
Ingredients: Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix) (each 1 qian); Renshen (Ginseng), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Tianma (Gastrodia Rhizome), Chantui (Cicada Slough), Bohe (Mint), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome) (each 0.7 qian); Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root), Fuling (Poria), Gancao (Licorice Root) (0.3 qian).

Add two cups of water and three slices of ginger, decoct and take. If complicated by cold, add Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig). If complicated by summer-heat, add Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) and Chaihu (Bupleurum Root). If complicated by dampness, add Fuling (Poria) and Cangzhu (Atractylodes Lancea Rhizome).
**Da Huma San**: Treats pruritus caused by wind-heat urticaria.
