Those who have ingested arsenic poison will exhibit restlessness akin to madness, severe colicky pain in the heart and abdomen, dizziness accompanied by vomiting, a bluish-black complexion, cold extremities, and six pulses (radial artery positions: cun, guan, chi on both sides) that are surging and rapid. If the poison is ingested with food or drink, it is relatively easy to cure; however, if taken on an empty stomach with wine and vinegar, it is difficult to save.
Prescription 1: Drink dijiang shui (water from soil slurry boiled for a short time) in one go. If vomiting occurs, drink again. This is referred to as washing out the poison from the abdomen, relying entirely on the mud from the ground.
Prescription 2: Use half a jin (approx. 500g) of mung beans (Vigna radiata), grind them with freshly drawn well water, remove the dregs, and drink the liquid thoroughly.
Prescription 3: Use two qian (approx. 7.5g) of true indigo flower (Indigofera tinctoria leaf), mix with jinghua shui (first-drawn well water) and take twice.
Prescription 4: Grind white hyacinth bean (Lablab purpureus) raw into powder, mix with freshly drawn water, and take two to three qian (approx. 7.5–11.25g).
Prescription 5: Drinking fresh sheep blood or duck blood can resolve the toxicity.
Prescription 6: Mix blue root (Baphicacanthus cusia root) with rock sugar, grind into water, and take orally.
Prescription 7: Mix lead powder (Galena processed) with dijiang shui (soil slurry water) and take it; consuming two or three bowls is harmless.
Prescription 8: Take two to three qian (approx. 7.5–11.25g) of Curcuma aromatica powder, mix evenly with cool water, and take orally.
Prescription 9: Take one qian (approx. 3.75g) of the white tip of dried dog feces, grind with water, and take orally. For severe vomiting, drink more cool water; inducing multiple vomitings can lead to recovery.
Soybean juice, maltose syrup, and date soup can all resolve Aconite toxicity.
Prescription 1: Decoct Saposhnikovia root (Fangfeng) strongly, prepare the juice, and take it to recover.
Prescription 2: Crush river snails, mix with water, and drink to recover.
It is said that Liang Langzhong's brother, Shen, contracted an illness. The physician advised him to consume Aconite wine. Each time, he would cut large pieces of raw Aconite (Fuzi) weighing two liang (approx. 75g), soak them in juice-wine, and drink one cup upon rising in the morning. After taking this for twenty years, when he served again as the Shaanxi Grain Transport Commissioner, Liang returned from the Imperial Academy and visited Shen in Nanle County. On the way, feeling the morning chill, Shen drank one cup, then asked someone to warm half a cup. When the wine arrived, feeling slightly intoxicated, he shared it with his wife. After traveling several li, Shen's wife's head swelled to the size of a dou (a measuring vessel), her lips cracked and bled, and she stopped by the roadside, calling for the attendant responsible for luggage to fetch a doctor. Doctor Li instructed them to chew raw black soybeans and mung beans, each a few he (approx. 20-40ml volume), while simultaneously decocting a soup, drinking until dawn, after which the swelling subsided. However, Shen continued drinking without cessation until reaching Chang'an. Several months later, he went blind, leading to his resignation from office at the age of forty-two. (From *Yi Shuo*)
Zheng Changqing, Zizheng, stated: In his youth, while accompanying his father, the Grand Minister, in Huai Zhou, a military officer suffered poisoning from consuming Herba Curculiginis (Xianmao). His tongue swelled so much that it protruded from his mouth, gradually enlarging to the level of his shoulders. Skilled physicians looked around but could not treat it. Only one physician said, "It can still be saved; delay no longer." He took a small knife, incised the tongue, stitching as he cut, performing the incision over a hundred times until a single drop of blood appeared. The physician rejoiced, saying, "There is no other issue." The tongue immediately reduced in size. He then ordered the decoction of Rhubarb (Dahuang) and Mirabilite (Puxiao) in several bowls to be taken continuously, and applied the medicinal powder directly onto the tongue, resulting in a cure.
