Qian Yi stated: When infants and children sweat naturally during sleep, it is due to deficiency of the muscles; Zhihan San (Stop Sweat Powder) is the primary prescription. When sweating covers the entire body, Xianggua Wan (Melon Pill) is indicated. When sweating extends from the chest down to the umbilicus, this indicates deficiency of the Stomach Qi; one should tonify the Spleen, using Yihuang San (Benefit Yellow Powder). There are cases of spontaneous sweating due to excess patterns, caused by external contraction of Wind pathogenic factors, with continuous fever without interval, sweating profusely between states of coma and wakefulness, or sweating on the forehead after sleeping in heavy clothing. In such cases, one should rescue the exterior and release the muscle layer, using Baisan Jie (Hundred Resolutions Decoction) or Zhihan San (Stop Sweat Powder).

If an infant appears healthy but sweats like water during sleep, remaining wet for a long time after waking, this is named "accumulation-type night sweating" (Jizheng Daohan), caused by Cold in the Spleen. Sanleng San (Three Spikes Powder) is appropriate, followed by Yihuang San (Benefit Yellow Powder).

When cold sweat gradually oozes out, with hair roots resembling a string of beads, and the face and forehead appearing moist, this is called "Fright Sweat" (Jinghan). Zhenjing Wan (Settle Fright Pill), Hupo Baolong Wan (Amber Embrace Dragon Pill), and Lingzhu Tang (Poria Decoction) added with Mahuanggen (Ephedrae Caulis et Rhizoma) are suitable for efficacy. If a child is lethargic and sleepy, sweating profusely on the body during sleep, this is caused by Yang Deficiency. If prolonged, it leads to emaciation and weakness; due to insufficiency of Heart Qi, Body Fluids (Jinye) escape recklessly. Fushen Tang (Poria with Hostwood Decoction) added with Renshen (Ginseng Radix) is used.
