There are twenty-seven acupoints on the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian: Yongquan (KI1), Ranggu (KI2), Taixi (KI3), Dazhong (KI4), Zhaohai (KI6), Shuiquan (KI5), Fuliu (KI7), Jiaoxin (KI8), Zhubin (KI9), Yinggu (KI10), Henggu (KI11), Dahe (KI12), Qixue (KI13), Siman (KI14), Zhongzhu (KI15), Huangshu (KI16), Shangqu (KI17), Shiguan (KI18), Yindu (KI19), Tonggu (KI20), Youmen (KI21), Bulang (KI22), Shenfeng (KI23), Lingxu (KI24), Shencang (KI25), Yuzhong (KI26), and Yufu (KI27).
The starting point of the Kidney Meridian has its specific location. To locate Yongquan (KI1, Springing Spring), flex the foot and curl the toes. Ranggu (KI2, Natural Valley) is located below the large bone anterior to the ankle; Taixi (KI3, Great Stream) is located posterior to the ankle above the heel. Dazhong (KI4, Great Bell) is found five fen below Taixi; Zhaohai (KI6, Illuminating Sea) arises from the Yin Qiao vessel below the ankle. Fuliu (KI7, Flowing Return) is named for its position two cun above the ankle; Jiaoxin (KI8, Connecting Confidence) is taken between the tendon and bone anterior to Fuliu. It is also described as being two cun above the ankle along the pathway; Zhubin (KI9, Building Guest) is located at the junction six cun above the medial malleolus. Yinggu (KI10, Yin Valley) is located inside the knee, adhering to the auxiliary bone. Henggu (KI11, Horizontal Bone) presents a depression resembling an inverted moon. Dahe (KI12, Great Harmony), Qixue (KI13, Qi Chamber), and Siman (KI14, Four Fullnesses) occupy their respective positions; Zhongzhu (KI15, Central Note) and Huangshu (KI16, Blind Tube) are situated directly flanking the umbilicus. These two pairs of points are each five cun from the midline, arranged sequentially. Shangqu (KI17, Merchant Curve), Shiguan (KI18, Stone Gate), and Yindu (KI19, Yin Door) are arranged upwards in succession. Tonggu (KI20, Common Valley) and Youmen (KI21, Hidden Gate) are one cun apart; Youmen (KI21) is half a cun away from Juque (CV14, Giant Que). From Bulang (KI22, Step Corridor), Shenfeng (KI23, Divine Seal), Lingxu (KI24, Spiritual Void), Shencang (KI25, Divine Storage), Yuzhong (KI26, Orphan Middle) to Yufu (KI27, Yu Mansion), the distance between each acupoint is one cun and six fen, without any discrepancy. If one wishes to know the exact location of Yufu (KI27), it is located two cun lateral to Xuanji (CV21, Swirling Pivot).
The Pericardium Luo (Collateral of the Pericardium) is located above the transverse membrane beneath the heart and below the vertical membrane, adhering to the transverse membrane, while the organ wrapped in yellow fat is the Heart itself. Outside this fatty membrane, there are fine fibrous membranes like silk threads connecting to the heart and lungs; this structure is the Pericardium.
Mr. Hua Shou stated: Why is the Hand-Jueyin Xinmai (Heart Master) also called the Pericardium? The answer is: The Ministerial Fire (Xiang Huo) acts by name, while the Sovereign Fire (Jun Huo) acts by position. The Hand-Jueyin meridian performs the functions of the Sovereign Fire. In terms of function, it is called Hand-Jueyin Xinmai (Heart Master); in terms of meridian nomenclature, it is called Pericardium. One meridian with two names essentially belongs to the Ministerial Fire.
The meridian of the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium originates in the chest, emerges to belong to the Pericardium, descends through the diaphragm, and successively connects with the Sanjiao (Triple Burner). Its branch follows the chest, emerges from the hypochondrium, descends three cun below the axilla, ascends to reach the axilla, then descends along the medial aspect of the arm, running between the Taiyin and Shaoyin meridians, enters the elbow, descends along the forearm between two tendons, enters the palm, and follows to the tip of the middle finger. Another branch diverges from the palm, follows to the tip of the ring finger. There are nine acupoints on this meridian, totaling eighteen points on both sides.
Tianchi (PC1, Heavenly Pool), also known as Tianhui, is located three cun below the axilla, one cun behind the nipple, attached to the costal region, within the intercostal space. It is the meeting point of the Hand-Jueyin, Hand-Shaoyang, and Foot-Shaoyang meridians. Needle 2 fen, moxa 3 cones.
[Indications] Visual impairment, distension and fullness in the chest and hypochondrium, cough and rebellious qi, arm pain, upward rushing qi with chills, fever, and malaria, heat diseases with absence of sweating.
Tianquan (PC2, Heavenly Spring), also known as Tianwen, is located two cun below the apex of the axilla; take the point with the arm raised. Needle 6 fen, moxa 3 cones.
[Indications] Aversion to wind and cold, distension and fullness in the chest and hypochondrium, cough and rebellious qi, pain in the back, scapula, and arm.
Quze (PC3, Curved Marsh) is located in the depression below the medial border of the elbow; obtain it by flexing the elbow. This is the He-Sea point where the Pericardium meridian enters, corresponding to the Water element. Needle 3 fen, moxa 3 cones.
