Furong Ye (Chrysanthemi Folium), Heye (Nelumbinis Folium), Jiaoye (Bananae Folium), Juye (Chrysanthemi Folium), Yinhua Ye (Lonicerae Japonicae Folium), Zisu Ye (Perillae Folium), Liuye (Salicis Folium), Huaiye (Sophorae Tonkinensis Folium), Dong Sang Ye (Mori Folium), and Tianmingjing Ye (Nammosi Herba) are selected according to the season. Fresh leaves are collected, wind-dried, and ground into powder. Once all ten types of leaves are prepared, they are mixed in equal proportions and stored in a porcelain bottle. In case of sudden throat disorders, the powder is blown into the affected area using a reed tube as an external application. Internally, Jiegeng Tang (Platycodon Decoction) is administered, or the powder is taken with boiled water, at a dose of 0.7 qian per administration. If encountered with nameless fire-toxin causing swelling, redness, and heat, it can also be applied externally to reduce swelling. Jinghua Shui (Well Water drawn at dawn) is used for mixing.
Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, 6 liang), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex, 4 liang), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, 4 liang), Jin Guo Lan (Tinosporae Rhizoma, 4 liang), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, 4 liang), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructum, deheartened, 4 liang), Shan Zhi (Gardeniae Fructus, 2 liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1.5 liang), and Chuan Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 5 qian). Each ingredient is purified, ground into fine powder, and mixed evenly. Honey is refined to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 3 qian per dose with boiled water.
Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Pao Jiang Hui (Zingiberis Rhizoma Carbonisatus), Qing Dai (Indigo Naturalis), and Er Cha (Catechu) are used in equal parts, ground into powder, and sprinkled on the affected area.
Sudden enlargement and stiffness of the tongue, swelling and closure of the throat leading to immediate cessation of breathing, is named "Zhong She" (Heavy Tongue disorder). This is a critical condition. Urgently use Zao Fan (Unroasted Alums) in any amount, combined with Cao Shuang (Grass Ash from new tiles). Use Huang Bai Phellodendri Cortex powder, mixed with Rose Root juice for topical application.
The lesion is located inside the cheek at the gum root, resembling Tie Gu Ju (Bone-Adherent Abscess). If initially mistaken for toothache and excessive Sheng Di Huang and Shi Gypsum are taken, it may lead to rot extending to the gum roots and subsequently spreading to the throat. Xi Huang San (Calves' Gallbladder Pill Powder) is used to clear heat and reduce swelling.
Ju Hong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 5 qian), Zhi Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum, 2 qian), Fu Ling (Poria, 1 qian), and Zhi Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata, 5 fen).
Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 5 qian), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, 1.5 qian), and Jiang Tan (Zingiberis Rhizoma Carbonisatum, 3 qian). The ingredients are powdered, and honey-water is used to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 6 fen per dose, either decocted together with Er Chen Tang (Two-Aged Decoction) or taken directly.
Che Che Chong (Aspongopus Chinensis) is roasted and ground. For every 1 qian of this powder, add 5 fen of Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) powder, mix well, and blow into the affected area.
Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 5 fen), Sheng Huang Qi (Astragali Radix, 4 qian), and Sheng Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 8 fen). If the pus is thick, continue administering Yang He Tang (Yang Harmony Decoction) (see External Symptoms Section, Item 22).
