If Bamboo Shoot Root is unavailable, use 5 liang of Imperata Cylindrica Root (Mao Gen). Decoct with water and take. For those who do not drink alcohol well, decocting with water alone is also acceptable, or adding alcohol for consumption is permissible.

Add 2 fen of Zingiberis Rhizoma (Jiang) as a guiding drug. Decoct with plain water and take orally.
(When pregnant for seven to eight months, fearing that the enlarging fetus may cause difficult labor. Use this formula to support maternal Qi, stabilize fetal position, and facilitate natural delivery. However, it can only be taken by pregnant women with strong fetal Qi.)
Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin) (stir-fried with wine, do not overcook; 1 liang in winter, 0.5 liang in summer)
Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Bai Zhu) (3 liang)

Equisetae Herba (Ai Ye) (2 fen)

(Treats dystocia in women, including malpresentation such as transverse or breech positions, resulting in failure to deliver after six or seven days. Or when the infant has died in the uterus and life is critical. Taking this prescription according to the instructions will result in immediate delivery, saving both mother and child. This formula is invariably effective. It was taught by an extraordinary person, and I wish to use it to save lives in the world. I often see midwives using their hands to extract or cut, causing immediate injury to the mother, which is deeply pitiable. Strictly avoid this. If one feels uneasy walking or moving two or three days before term, taking one dose in advance ensures safety. This formula has been tested repeatedly with success, saving countless lives.)
Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Dang Gui) (washed with wine)
Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuan Xiong) (each 1 qian 5 fen)

Paeoniae Radix Alba (Bai Shao) (stir-fried)
Use 1 zhong of water and 3 slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma (Jiang). Decoct until 0.8 zhong remains. Those taking it in advance should take it on an empty stomach; those at term should take it at any time.
