阴气，强志，令人武勇，力作不倦。又堕胎。生少室。二月采根，阴干。（远志为之使，恶

《本经》原文∶天雄，味辛，温。主大风，寒湿痹，历节痛，拘挛缓急，破积聚邪气，
金创，强筋骨，轻身

Treats heart pain, blood bi (impediment syndrome due to blood stasis), various diseases of the face, promotes the action of other medicines, and is produced in Shu Commandery. Harvested in March.
Sweet in taste, greatly warm in nature, highly toxic. Treats wind-induced migratory pain in the head and face, accumulations and masses in the heart and abdomen, heaviness in joints making walking difficult, removes bone pain, nourishes Yin Qi, strengthens willpower, makes one courageous and strong, allowing for labor without fatigue. It also causes abortion. Produced in Mount Shaoshi. The roots are harvested in February and dried in the shade. (Polygalae Radix [Yuanshi] acts as a guide drug; it is incompatible with Desmodii Caulis [Fubi].)
Original text from *Shennong Bencao Jing*: Tianxiong (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata - Tianxiong), pungent in taste, warm in nature. Treats severe wind, cold-damp bi, joint pain (li-jie pain), spasms or flaccidity, breaks up accumulations and eliminates pathogenic qi, treats metal injuries, strengthens sinews and bones, lightens the body.
Sweet in taste, greatly hot in nature, toxic. Eliminates cold phlegm in the chest, difficulty in eating, cold diseases of the heart and abdomen, pain around the umbilicus, shoulder blade pain preventing flexion and extension, eye pain preventing forceful vision. It also causes abortion.
Bitter in taste, highly toxic. Treats shizhu (a contagious chronic wasting disease) forming hard masses, and wind-bi pain in the head.
Pungent in taste, slightly warm in nature, highly toxic. Treats wind-dampness, dampness in the kidney channel causing scrotal itching in men, alternating chills and fever with joint pain, pulling pain in the lower back preventing walking, abscesses with pus accumulation. It also causes abortion. Produced in Langling. Harvested in January and February, dried in the shade. Those longer than three cun are called Tianxiong. (Arisaematis Rhizoma [Mangcao] acts as a guide drug; Pinelliae Rhizoma [Banxia], Trichosanthis Fructus [Gualou], Fritillariae Bulbus [Beimu], Ampelopsis Radix [Bailian], and Bletillae Rhizoma [Baiji] are substances it fears; Veratrum Rhizoma [Lilu] is an incompatible substance.)

It also causes abortion and is known as the "Chief of Hundred Medicines." Produced in Qianwei and Guanghan. Harvested in August, it is called Fuzi; harvested in spring, it is called Wutou. (Thesium chinense [Dichan] acts as a guide drug; it fears Centipedae Corpus [Wugong]; it is averse to Saposhnikoviae Radix [Fangfeng], Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma [Gancao], Scutellariae Radix [Huangqin], Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma [Renshen], Allii Ulfini Bulbus [Wujiu], and Sojae Semen Preparatum [Dadou].)
