For pregnant women after the eighth month of gestation, taking one dose in advance and one to two doses upon labor can prevent all kinds of dystocia (difficult childbirth). It also stabilizes various cases of fetal restlessness. The dosages of this formula are divinely bestowed and must not be arbitrarily adjusted by personal opinion.
Dangshen Shen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, body part) washed with wine: 1.5 qian; Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Rhizoma Chuanxiong): 1.5 qian; Tusizi (Semen Cuscutae): 1.5 qian; Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), stir-fried with wine: 1 qian in winter, 1.2 qian in other months; Chuanbeimu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae): 1 qian (Zhebeimu from Zhejiang is prohibited); Jingjiesui (Herba Schizonepetae Spike), stir-fried: appropriate amount; Huangqi (Radix Astragali Membranacei), honey-stir-fried: 0.8 fen; Houpo (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), ginger-juice stir-fried: appropriate amount; Qiaiye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi): appropriate amount. Take on an empty stomach.
Beixin (Radix Asari), 1.5 qian stir-fried with wine (use 2 qian for Qi deficiency); Chuanbeimu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae), separately ground and taken with water; Jiushaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, wine-processed): 1 qian; Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis): 2 qian; Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Rhizoma Chuanxiong): 1.5 qian; Tusizi (Semen Cuscutae): 1.5 qian; Chuanhoupo (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), ginger-juice stir-fried; Jingjie (Herba Schizonepetae); Airong (Flores Artemisiae Argyi); Qianghuo (Radix Notopterygii seu Imperatoris): each 0.8 fen; Zhike (Fructus Aurantii): 0.6 fen; Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis): 0.5 fen; Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) as a guiding drug.
This formula was obtained from *Yixue Xinwu* (Heart Mirror of Medicine). It has been tested repeatedly with consistent success, yielding immediate results. For those suffering from dystocia, it induces immediate delivery; for those not yet in labor, it ensures stability. Truly an excellent emergency prescription and a raft for saving lives. However, do not arbitrarily increase or decrease the dosages, as advised.
Shazha Rou (Endocarpium Crataegi), stir-fried until blackened: 3 fen. Decoct in water and mix with brown sugar before drinking.
Another Formula:
Yanhusuo (Rhizoma Corydalis Yanhusuo), 6 qian stir-fried with wine; Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae): 3 qian; Zhike (Fructus Aurantii): 1 qian. Decoct and take orally.
Chuanlianzi (Fructus Toosendan), 10 grains, boiled together with 7 grains of Badou (Semen Crotonis Tiglii), remove Badou, and roast on tile until carbonized; Lizhihe (Arillus Litchi), 10 grains, crushed and stir-fried until dry with salt water; Wuyu (Fructus Evodiae Officinalis): 2 qian; Xiaohuixiang (Fructus Foeniculi): 3 qian; Guangui (Cortex Cinnamomi Cassiae), 3 qian, all stir-fried with salt water. Grind these herbs into powder together with the previously mentioned medicines, and take with boiling water.
Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis): 1 liang; Qiannian'ai (Herba Siegesbeckiae Orientalis) with roots, one handful. Decoct Qiannian'ai to make a concentrated juice, then mix with a large bowl of Qingdai. Taking no more than two or three doses will result in complete recovery. There are no dietary restrictions. This formula was passed down through the family of Jiang Ruopeng and has proven effective in repeated trials. Note: Qiannian'ai is also known as Lu Bianjing. It bears small white flowers in the fifth, sixth, and seventh lunar months. When its root is burned in a stove, it emits an odor resembling cat feces, hence the common name Mao Shi Ta.
