Discourse states: Chronic deafness (long-term hearing loss) is caused by deficiency of the Kidney, insufficiency of Qi and Blood, and stagnation of Wind pathogen. The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian is where numerous vessels converge, and its Qi connects to the ear. If the Kidney is injured by overstrain, causing the Zong Mai (major converging vessels) to be deficient and damaged, and Qi and Blood to decline, Wind pathogen takes advantage of this to invade, resulting in deafness. If the condition persists without recovery, excessive strain causes pathogenic factors to remain stagnant, thus forming chronic deafness.
