Discussion: The epigastric and abdominal distension caused by the eruption of "Rushi" (mineral drugs) occurs because diet and living habits are all exposed to warm and hot conditions, causing the mineral drug's potential to become stagnant and obstructed, preventing free circulation. Consequently, heat qi in the zang-fu organs fights with each other, resulting in epigastric and abdominal distension. There are also cases where abdominal distension is so severe that it feels as if the belt will break; this is also due to warm sleeping and living environments, combined with improper diet, untimely bathing, and excessive physical exertion. If one can consume cold food, bathe with cold water, and stand in the wind to cool down, the distension will naturally subside.
To treat epigastric and abdominal distension caused by Rushi eruption. Daoqi Wan Prescription:
Qian Niu Zi (Semen Pharbitidis, four liang).
The above single herb is crushed, sifted into powder, mixed with a paste made from natural ginger juice and flour, and formed into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take fifty pills per dose, administered with ginger decoction.
To treat high fever and epigastric/abdominal fullness/distension caused by Rushi eruption. Shigao Tang Prescription:
Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Da Qing (Indigo Naturalis) (each three liang); Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart); Sheng Ma (Bupleuri Radix); Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix) (each two liang).
The above five herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. For each dose, take five qian bi (approx. 15g), add one dan half of water, boil until one dan remains, strain, and divide into two warm doses. If abdominal pain occurs, add Xu Duan (Dipsaci Radix, two liang).
To treat Rushi eruption presenting with abdominal distension, headache, pre-existing fixed masses (Pi) not resolving, or caused by drinking alcohol and eating meat, accompanied by occasional bitter feeling in the heart and urgent pain. Huang Qin Tang Prescription:
Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart); Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted and cut); Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, cut and stir-fried, each two liang); Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, remove heart, baked, one liang); Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus, forty seeds).

The above nine herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. For each dose, take three qian bi, add one dan of water, include one fen of smashed fresh ginger and a small amount of Dou Chi (Sojae Semen Praeparatum), boil together until six-tenths remain, strain, add Ban Zi (half zi measure) of Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) until boiling, and take warm.
