Commentary states: After childbirth, women suffer from deficiency in the Chong and Ren meridians. Qi and blood deviate from their normal pathways. If proper care is neglected, the flow of Qi becomes stagnant, and lochia (postpartum discharge) decreases. This leads to irritability, mental restlessness, dizziness, chest oppression, and hard, painful sensations in the umbilical and abdominal regions. By promoting the circulation of retained blood (stasis) and regulating the ascending and descending of Yin and Yang, the disease can be cured. If left untreated, it may transform into postpartum zheng jia (abdominal masses) and emaciation.
