论曰偏头痛之状。由风邪客于阳经。其经偏虚者。邪气凑于一边。痛连额角。故谓之偏
头痛也。
治偏头痛至灵散方
雄黄（研） 细辛（去苗叶为末等分）
上二味。再同研匀。每服一字。左边疼 入右鼻。右边疼 入左鼻。
治偏头痛不可忍。乳香散方
乳香（如皂子大） 高良姜（如指头大）
上二味。于火上烧。迎烟熏鼻。随痛左右用之。
治偏头痛不可忍。龙香散方
地龙（去土炒为末） 乳香（研等分）
上二味。再同研匀。渗在纸上。作纸拈。于灯上烧令烟出。即迎烟熏鼻。随患左右用之
治久患偏头疼。乌豆散方

上三味。除麝香外。捣罗为细散。再研匀。每服半钱匕。煎薄荷茶清放冷调下。更于痛

上三味。再同研匀。以纸拈 药。随痛左右 之。

鼻吸药一字。入药时。先含水一口。防药入喉内。候鼻中涕泗出即瘥。
Discourse: The manifestation of lateral headache (Pian Tou Tong). It arises from wind pathogenic factors invading the Yang meridians. When a specific meridian is relatively deficient, the pathogenic qi gathers on one side, causing pain that radiates to the frontal angle, hence termed lateral headache.
Formula for Treating Lateral Headache: Zhi Ling San (Ultimate Spirit Powder)
Realgar (Xionghuang), ground; Asarum (Xixin), with seedlings and leaves removed, ground into powder, equal parts.
Take the above two ingredients, grind them together until uniform. Administer one "yi zi" (a traditional unit of weight/volume) per dose. For pain on the left side, insufflate into the right nostril; for pain on the right side, insufflate into the left nostril.
Formula for Treating Unbearable Lateral Headache: Ruxiang San (Frankincense Powder)
Frankincense (Ruxiang), size of a soap pod; Galangal (Gaoliangjiang), size of a finger tip.
Burn the above two ingredients over fire. Inhale the smoke towards the nose. Apply according to the side of the pain.
Formula for Treating Unbearable Lateral Headache: Longxiang San (Dragon and Frankincense Powder)
Earthworm (Dilong), cleaned of soil, stir-fried, and ground into powder; Frankincense (Ruxiang), ground, equal parts.
Grind the above two ingredients together until uniform. Impregnate onto paper to make paper twists. Ignite the twist over a lamp to produce smoke. Immediately inhale the smoke towards the nose. Apply according to the affected side.
Formula for Treating Chronic Lateral Headache: Wudou San (Black Soybean Powder)
Aconitum carmichaelii lateral rootlet tip (Caowutou jian), 1 fen, used raw; Adzuki bean (Chixiaodou), 35 grains; Musk (Shexiang), 1 yi zi, ground.
Except for Musk, crush and sieve the other three ingredients into a fine powder, then grind uniformly. Take half a qian bi (spoonful) per dose, mixed with cooled mint tea decoction. Additionally, place a small amount of medicine into the nostril on the painful side.
Formula for Treating Lateral Headache Accompanied by Unbearable Wind Pain Radiating to Teeth: Xixin San (Asarum Powder)
Asarum (Xixin), with seedlings and leaves removed; Prunella vulgaris (Xiakucao), each 3 qian; Long pepper (Bibo); Galangal (Gaoliangjiang), each 1 qian.
Crush and sieve the above four ingredients into a fine powder. Use a small amount, insufflating into the nostril corresponding to the side of the pain. If used for toothache, the patient must keep the mouth open to allow saliva to flow out; do not spit forcefully. After the saliva has drained completely, drink black tea brewed with cold water. The pain will cease immediately.
Divine Holy Formula for Treating Unbearable Lateral Headache: Shensheng San
Dry Scorpion (Ganxie), cleaned of soil and stir-fried; Agastache leaf (Huoxiang ye); Ephedra (Mahuang), with roots and joints removed; Asarum (Xixin), with seedlings and leaves removed, all in equal parts.
Crush and sieve the above four ingredients into a fine powder. Take 1 qian bi per dose, taken with mint wine.
Formula for Treating Lateral Headache: Tiannanxing San
Arisaema cum Bile (Tiannanxing), boiled in sour plant juice until soft in the center, sliced and sun-dried, 1 liang; Chrysanthemum flower (Juhua), 3 fen; Pyrite (Ziran tong), calcined red and quenched in vinegar, 1 liang; Saposhnikovia root (Fangfeng), 0.5 liang.
Process the above five ingredients (excluding two specified or impurities), crush and sieve into a fine powder. Take half a qian bi per dose, mixed with a small amount of black tea infusion. Drink it all in one gulp, divided into three swallows. Nod once with each swallow.
Miraculous Efficacy Formula for Treating Unbearable Lateral Headache
Radish (Laifu), washed and sliced.
Juice the single ingredient. Take a small amount and insufflate into the nostril. Apply according to the side of the pain.
Formula for Treating Lateral Headache: Dingxiang San
Clove (Dingxiang), one large clove, ground; Thorn needle (Jizhen), forty-nine inverted hooks, burned to ash but retaining efficacy, ground into powder; Musk (Shexiang), size of a soap pod, ground.
Grind the above three ingredients together until uniform. Use a paper twist to apply the medicine. Insufflate according to the side of the pain.
Instant Efficacy Formula for Treating Lateral Headache: Lixiao San
Earthworm (Dilong), cleaned of soil, stir-fried, and ground into powder, 1 liang; Musk (Shexiang), ground, a small amount.
Grind the above two ingredients together until uniform. Take half a qian bi per dose. Impregnate onto paper to make a paper twist. Ignite over a lamp and fumigate the nostril according to the side of the pain.
Four Spirits Formula for Treating Lateral Headache: Sishen San
Earthworm (Dilong), cleaned of soil and stir-fried; Dried Toad (Gan xama), burned to ash retaining efficacy, each 1 qian; Veratrum (Lilu), 0.5 qian; Borneol (Longnao), ground, a small amount.
Except for Borneol, crush and sieve the other three ingredients into a fine powder, then grind uniformly. Take approximately half a yi zi. First, fill the mouth with water. For males, insufflate into the left nostril; for females, into the right nostril. Massage the painful area for a long time until the pain subsides.
Formula for Treating Lateral Headache: Bibo San
Long pepper (Bibo).
Crush and sieve the single ingredient into a fine powder. Take one yi zi per dose. First, have the patient fill their mouth with warm water. Insufflate into the nostril corresponding to the side of the disease.

Soak the single ingredient in strong vinegar overnight, dry by baking, crush, and sieve into powder.
