Commentary states: Heart and abdominal pain during pregnancy arises from neglecting care and protection during gestation, leading to external invasion of wind-cold and internal retention of chronic cold. The pathogenic factors lodge in the meridians of the Heart and Spleen. The meridian of the Heart is the Hand-Shaoyin (Heart Meridian); the meridian of the Spleen branches off from the Stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, and enters into the heart. When these two meridians are attacked by wind-cold and chronic cold, pathogenic factors and healthy qi clash and strike each other, causing pain in both the heart region and the abdomen. If not cured for a long time, it will hinder appetite, deplete and weaken qi and blood, and damage the Bao Luo (uterine collaterals).
