Jueyin Wind-Wood governs the Heaven (Si Tian), Shaoyang Ministerial Fire governs the Earth (Zai Quan), and the middle transformation is Shaogong Earth Movement. The year's movement of Earth Qi is insufficient, causing the qi transformation to operate behind schedule. Wind transforms into Heavenly Qi, scorching transformation moves to the left, Zang transformation moves to the right; thus, Heavenly Qi is disturbed and its administration is chaotic. Bitterness transforms into Earthly Qi, clear transformation moves to the left, dryness transformation moves to the right; thus, Earthly Qi is upright and its commands are swift. Wind arises from high and distant places, heat follows it, clouds tend toward the Rain Mansion, and damp transformation begins to operate. Wind and Fire share the same virtue, corresponding above to Sui Xing (Jupiter) and Ying Huo (Mars). The grains correspond to Cang (green/blue) and Dan (red). Regarding Tai Shang Metal mentioned among the intermediate grains, the consumption affects Wen Jiao Wood and Pin Yu Water. The victory and revenge of Wind Transformation and Clear Transformation are the same, which is referred to as the days of Evil Qi Transformation. The number for Wind Transformation is three, for Damp Transformation is five, and for Fire Transformation is seven; these are referred to as the days of Positive Transformation. Hairy creatures remain quiet, feathered creatures breed; this is called the suitability of yearly things. Armored creatures suffer, cold toxins do not generate; all these are restricted by Earthly Qi. Wind, Dryness, and Fire Heat alternate in victory and revenge. Heat diseases circulate in the lower part, Wind diseases circulate in the upper part, and Wind-Dryness victory/revenge manifests in the middle. Yin is above, Yang is below; Heavenly Qi is deficient. One should nourish the source of transformation to assist Wood Qi. Since the year's Earth movement is insufficient, the appearance of Jiao Wood Qi is similar to Zheng Jiao Wood Qi, so its evil qi will be slight. One must certainly support the Luck Movement, preventing evil from prevailing. For the year, it is appropriate to use Pungent flavor to regulate the upper part, and Salty flavor to regulate the lower part. Those who fear Fire Qi should not rashly violate it. Therefore, it is said that the transformation for the upper part uses Pungent-Cool, the middle uses Sweet-Harmonizing, and the lower uses Salty-Cold; this is suitable for medicines and foods.

Before the midpoint of the year, Jueyin Wind Transformation presides. If Wind Qi overflows and prevails, the vast sky becomes dusty and dim, clouds and objects are disturbed, cold generates Spring Qi, and flowing water does not freeze. People suffer from pain in the epigastrium at the heart center, extending upward to support both hypochondria, obstruction in the diaphragm and throat, inability to swallow food, stiffness of the tongue root, vomiting after eating, cold diarrhea, abdominal distension, loose stools, masses (Jia), water closure, hibernating insects do not hide. The disease originates in the Spleen. Diagnosis focuses on the Chongyang pulse of the Foot (Stomach Meridian). The method should be to level with Pungent-Cool, assist with Bitter-Sweet, use Sweet to relax/tense, and use Sour to drain.

After the midpoint of the year, Shaoyang Ministerial Fire generates. If Fire Qi overflows internally, flames shine bright in the suburbs, cold and heat alternate. People suffer from projectile diarrhea with red and white discharge, lower abdominal pain, red urine, and in severe cases, bloody stools. The method should be to treat with Salty-Cold, assist with Bitter-Pungent, use Sour to astringe, and use Bitter to disperse.

The transformation of the yearly movement is recorded as Bei Jian, which is called Reduced Transformation. The transformation qi does not command, while the generating policy stands alone. The long-growth qi is orderly, rain is delayed, the gathering-harvest qi is peaceful, wind and cold rise together, grass and trees flourish beautifully, bloom but do not fruit, mature but are shriveled. Its qi is scattered, its function is static and settled. Its movement manifests as ulcers, swelling, pus, and carbuncles. Its onset is damp and stagnant. Its transformation combines with what it cannot overcome. When Wind Transformation prevails, if there is a transformation of dust clouds and moisture in the four corners, then spring has the policy of rustling branches and drumming cracks. If the four corners undergo changes of shaking, tearing, and floating turbulence, then autumn has the revenge of solemn killing and continuous heavy rain. Its disaster is in the four corners. Its zang organ is the Spleen. Its disease resides internally in the heart and abdomen, and externally in muscles and limbs. Overlapping with Jueyin, the qi is the same as Zheng Jiao. People suffer from undigested food diarrhea; this is evil injuring the Spleen. The method should be to treat with Sweet-Harmonizing.

First Qi: From the Hai hour of the Great Cold day in the Wuxu year to the You hour of the Spring Equinox day of this year, totaling 60 days and 87.5 ke. The main position is Shao Jiao Wood, the guest qi is Yangming Metal, and the middle sees Earth Movement. Earth generates Metal, Clear Transformation operates, cold begins to be austere, killing qi arrives. People suffer from cold in the lower right. It is appropriate to treat the Yangming guest qi, using Sour to tonify, Pungent to drain, and Bitter to泄 (drain/vent). Year grain should be Cang (green), intermediate grain should be Shu (millet), to restrain Dryness Evil so it cannot cause harm.

Second Qi: From the You hour of the Spring Equinox day to the Wei hour of the Grain Full day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Tai Zheng Fire, the guest qi is Taiyang Water, and the middle sees Earth Movement. Damp and Cold combine qi to operate the Shurong (comfort and prosper) transformation. Cold does not depart, flowers and snow turn to ice, killing qi applies transformation, frost descends, famous grasses wither at the top, cold rain arrives frequently, Yang recovers transformation. People suffer from heat in the middle. It is appropriate to treat the Taiyang guest qi, using Bitter to tonify, Salty to drain, Bitter to firm, and Pungent to moisten. Year grain should be Cang (green), intermediate grain should be Ji (broomcorn millet), to restrain Cold Evil so it cannot cause harm.

Third Qi: From the Shen hour of the Grain Full day to the Wu hour of the Great Heat day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Tai Zheng Fire, the guest qi is Jueyin Wood, and the middle sees Earth Movement. Wood overcomes Earth, Heavenly Policy is distributed, wind rises on time. People suffer from tearing, tinnitus, trembling, and dizziness. It is appropriate to treat the Jueyin guest qi, using Pungent to tonify, Sour to drain, and Sweet to relax. Year grain should be Cang (green), intermediate grain should be Dao (rice), to restrain Wind Evil so it cannot cause harm.

Fourth Qi: From the Wu hour of the Great Heat day to the Chen hour of the Autumn Equinox day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Shao Gong Earth, the guest qi is Shaoyin Fire, and the middle sees Earth Movement. Earth occupies its position, Shaoyin occupies it. Humid heat arrives, dampness and heat contend, fighting in the upper left. People suffer from jaundice and edema. It is appropriate to treat the Shaoyin guest qi, using Salty to tonify, Sweet to drain, and Sour to astringe. Year grain should be Dan (red), intermediate grain should be Dou (beans), to restrain Evil Heat so it cannot cause harm.

Fifth Qi: From the Si hour of the Autumn Equinox day to the Mao hour of the Light Snow day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Tai Shang Metal, the guest qi is Taiyin Earth, and the middle sees Earth Movement. Qi and Movement are the same, Dryness and Dampness alternate in superiority, deep yin spreads, cold air reaches the body, wind and rain occur. It is appropriate to treat the Taiyin guest qi, using Sweet to tonify, Bitter to drain, and Sweet to relax. Year grain should be Dan (red), intermediate grain should be Ma (hemp), to restrain Damp Evil so it cannot cause harm. This qi should not violate the governing qi.

Final Qi: From the Mao hour of the Light Snow day to the Chou hour of the Great Cold day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Shao Yu Water, the guest qi is Shaoyang Fire, and the middle sees Earth Movement. Fire and Earth are harmonious, Feared Fire commands, Yang greatly transforms, hibernating insects appear, flowing water does not freeze, Earthly Qi vigorously expands, grass grows, people feel comfortable. The disease is warm epidemic. It is appropriate to treat the Shaoyang guest qi, using Salty to tonify, Sweet to drain, and Salty to soften. Year grain should be Dan (red), intermediate grain should be Dou (beans), to restrain Fire Evil so it cannot cause harm.

The general law of yearly qi: If Wind prevails, there is a revenge of Yangming. If Fire prevails, there is a revenge of Taiyang. Observe where the qi arrives, and treat each according to its method.
