Commentary states: The waist is the mansion of the Kidney, and the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian traverses this area. Its vessel penetrates the spine, belongs to the Kidney, and reaches the waist. In individuals suffering from labor injuries, if the Kidney Qi has declined and Yang Qi is insufficient, Cold-Dampness attacks internally, causing the meridians and collaterals to become contracted and tense. Consequently, there is stiffness and pain in the lumbar and hip regions, rendering flexion and extension impossible.
