Commentary states: The Kidney governs water metabolism, its orifices open to the anterior and posterior yin (genitals and anus), located in the lower jiao (lower burner), and stands in exterior-interior relationship with the Bladder. The Bladder is the fu-organ of fluid storage; if the zang-fu organs are harmonious, it can control fluids, ensuring regular urination. However, if kidney qi is deficient due to exhaustion and injury, and the Bladder meridian is cold, fluids cannot be self-regulated, resulting in frequent and profuse urination.
