Discussion: Textbooks state that all movement is attributed to Wind, and parasites are generated by the transformation of Wind. The branch collateral of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian enters the teeth. If this meridian is deficient and damaged, the bone marrow fails to receive nourishment, allowing Wind pathogen to take advantage and invade the teeth. Toxic qi combats with Dampness to generate parasites; hence it is called "parasites eroding the teeth." The manifestations include holes at the tooth roots, sometimes accompanied by pain. In severe cases, teeth become loose and the gums recede (Ya Xuan, gingival recession), swelling occurs, and there is a foul odor.
