It is stated: The nature of blood is to flow freely when warmed, and to coagulate and become stagnant when chilled. If it becomes stagnant and fails to circulate, the skin and hair will wither and deteriorate, and the muscles will suffer from Bi syndrome (obstruction syndrome). The *Neijing* (Inner Canon) states that wind, cold, and dampness pathogenic factors mix and invade together, combining to form Bi syndrome. It also says: When these are encountered in summer, it is called Mai Bi (Vessel Bi). Since it is a Bi syndrome, it can be deduced that blood coagulation and lack of flow are present.
