Yangming Dryness Metal governs the Heaven (Si Tian), Shaoyin Ministerial Fire governs the Earth (Zai Quan), and the central movement is Shao Yu Water. The water qi of the year is insufficient, causing the qi transformation to operate later than the heavenly timing. Dryness becomes the governing force of heaven. Xuanming (Cold Water Qi) is located in the left interstice, and Mingda (Fire Qi) is located in the right interstice; therefore, the heavenly qi is urgent and its administration is severe. Bitter flavor transforms into earthly qi, softness transforms into the left interstice, and agitation transforms into the right interstice; thus, the earthly qi is bright and its decree is violent. Yang exclusively holds power, heat and summer heat prevail, objects become dry and hard, pure wind is governed, wind and dryness circulate horizontally, flowing into the intersection of qi. There is much yang and little yin, clouds tend toward the rain mansion, and moist transformation is spread. When dryness reaches its extreme, it transforms into moisture; Metal and Fire combine their virtues, corresponding above to Baitei (Venus) and Yinghuo (Mars). The grains are white and red. The intermediate grains are those designated as Tai Zheng (Fire movement). The consumed items are white armored species and feathered species. Rain transformation and wind transformation share the same victory and reversal, and the degree of evil qi transformation is also the same. Clear transformation number is nine, cold transformation number is one, hot transformation number is seven; these are the degrees of normal transformation. Armored insects remain quiet, feathered insects breed; this is the suitability of yearly matters. Armored insects are depleted, cold toxins do not generate; all this is constrained by earthly qi. Hibernating insects appear, flowing water does not freeze, clear-heat qi persists at the qi intersection. People suffer from cough, throat obstruction, sudden onset of chills and fever, tremors, and difficulty urinating. Clear qi arrives first and is vigorous, causing hair-covered animals (or insects) to die; hot qi arrives later and violently, causing armored insects to suffer. The onset is restless. In this year, Metal is above, Fire is below, and Water movement is in the middle. The Water organ is attacked by Fire, Fire overcomes Metal, and heavenly qi is deficient. However, Water can control Fire and generate Metal, and Metal generates the movement, so the evil qi is slight. Treatment should nourish the source of transformation to assist Metal qi, stabilize the Water movement to prevent evil invasion, and break the stagnation of Fire qi. Eat white and red grains to stabilize righteous qi, and eat intermediate qi grains to remove evil qi. This year is suitable for using salty, bitter, and pungent flavors to induce sweating, clear heat, and disperse. Transformation aligns with clear transformation; earth transformation should be used more. Medicinal and food properties should be slightly warm and bitter at the top, harmonious and bitter in the middle, and cold and salty at the bottom. Observing the qi: before the midpoint of the year, Yangming governs. If dryness overcomes, trees bloom late, grass grows late, internal changes occur in sinews and bones, people suffer from left hypochondriac pain, coldness in the center, malaria upon infection, great cold changes the climate, cough, borborygmus, diarrhea with loose stools, tall trees contract vitality, lower vegetation stagnates, grass tips wither, sudden severe pain in heart and hypochondrium, inability to turn side to side, dry throat, dusty face, waist pain, eye ulcers, sores, acne, and carbuncles. The disease originates in the Liver; diagnosis focuses on the Foot Taichong pulse. The method should be balanced with bitter-warm, assisted with sour-pungent, and purged with bitter. After the midpoint of the year, Shaoyin governs. If heat invades internally, flames float on rivers and marshes, dark places appear bright. People suffer from constant borborygmus, qi rushing up to the chest, asthma unable to stand long, chills and fever with skin pain, dizziness, toothache, throat swelling, chills and fever like malaria, lower abdominal pain, and abdominal distension. Treatment should use cold-salty medicines, assisted with sweet-bitter, astringed with sour, and dispersed with bitter. At the qi intersection, Water movement governs. Insufficient Water is recorded as "Dried Stream," which is called Reverse Yang. The storage command is not raised, transformation qi flourishes, growth qi is announced, hibernating insects do not hide, soil is moist, springs decrease, grass and trees grow vigorously and luxuriantly. Their qi is stagnant, their function is seeping and draining, their movement is firm and stopping, their manifestation is dry and withered. Their organ is the Kidney, their transformation combines with what they cannot overcome. Their disease is difficulty urinating, caused by evil injuring the Kidney. Observing the qi: at the four corners, if there is transformation of turbulent moisture and dusty clouds, there will be responses of gentle wind and generation; if there are changes of dusty haze and sudden heavy rain, there will be reversals of drifting and shaking. The disaster is in the North. The disease resides internally in the waist, spine, and marrow, and externally in the溪谷 (valleys/synovial spaces) and knees. Thus, when yearly water is insufficient, dampness prevails, growth qi acts in reverse, transformation is rapid, summer heat and rain arrive frequently. People suffer from abdominal fullness, heavy body, damp diarrhea, cold sores with flowing fluid, waist and thigh pain, difficulty in thighs and knees, vexation, foot weakness, cold paralysis, foot pain, even edema. Reversal brings great storms, grass bends, trees shed leaves, growth is not fresh, complexion changes frequently, sinews and bones spasm, muscles twitch, eyes see blurred, objects crack, rashes erupt, qi blocks the middle, pain in heart and abdomen, Yellow Qi is damaged, grains fail to ripen.

First Qi: From Hai hour of Great Cold day in Geng Yin year to You hour of Spring Equinox day in this year, totaling 60 days and 87.5 ke. Main position is Shao Jiao Wood, Guest position is Taiyin Earth, central sees Water movement. Earth overcomes Water, earthly qi shifts, yin begins to congeal, qi begins to肃 (solemn/cold), water freezes, cold rain transforms. Disease includes internal heat and distension, facial and ocular edema, somnolence, nasal congestion, epistaxis, sneezing, yawning, vomiting, yellow-red urine, even strangury. Treat the Guest of Taiyin with sweet tonification, bitter purgation, and sweet relaxation. Yearly food uses white grains, intermediate grains use hemp. Even if damp evil exists, it cannot harm.

Second Qi: From You hour of Spring Equinox day to Wei hour of Grain Full day, totaling over 60 days. Main position is Tai Zheng Fire, Guest position is Shaoyang Fire, central sees Water movement. Yang spreads, people feel comfortable, things grow luxuriantly, pestilence arrives greatly, people suffer sudden death. Water movement supports it, so evil is slight. Treat the Guest of Shaoyang with salty tonification, sweet purgation, and salty softening. Yearly food uses white grains, intermediate grains use beans. Even if fire evil exists, it cannot harm.

Third Qi: From Shen hour of Grain Full day to Wu hour of Great Heat day, totaling over 60 days. Main position is Tai Zheng Fire, Guest position is Yangming Metal, central sees Water movement. Heavenly administration spreads, coolness travels, dryness and heat mix, dryness reaches extreme then moisture. People suffer chills and fever. Treat the Guest of Yangming with sour tonification, pungent purgation, and bitter drainage. Yearly food uses white grains, intermediate grains use millet. Even if dryness evil exists, it cannot harm.

Fourth Qi: From Wu hour of Great Heat day to Chen hour of Autumn Equinox day, totaling over 60 days. Main position is Shao Gong Earth, Guest position is Taiyang Water, central sees Water movement. Qi and movement are the same, called Siqi. Cold rain descends. Disease includes sudden collapse, tremors, delirium, shortness of breath, dry throat with thirst, heart pain, carbuncles, sores, malaria chills, bone atrophy, and bloody stool. Treat the Guest of Taiyang with bitter tonification, salty purgation, bitter firming, and pungent moistening. Yearly food uses red grains, intermediate grains use foxtail millet. Even if cold evil exists, it cannot harm. For this qi, avoid cold when using cold, do not violate the cold of Siqi.

Fifth Qi: From Si hour of Autumn Equinox day to Mao hour of Light Snow day, totaling over 60 days. Main position is Tai Shang Metal, Guest position is Jueyin Wood, central sees Water movement. Water generates Wood, spring command acts in reverse, grass blooms luxuriantly, people's qi is harmonious. Regulate the Guest of Jueyin with pungent tonification, sour purgation, and sweet relaxation. Yearly food uses red grains, intermediate grains use rice. Even if wind evil exists, it cannot harm.

Final Qi: From Mao hour of Light Snow day to Chou hour of Great Cold day, totaling over 60 days. Main position is Shao Yu Water, Guest position is Shaoyin Fire, central sees Water movement. Water movement is in position, Shaoyin occupies it, yang qi spreads, climate is unexpectedly warm, hibernating insects appear, flowing water does not freeze, people are healthy and peaceful. Disease is warmth. Treat the Guest of Shaoyin with salty tonification, sweet purgation, and sour astringency. Yearly food uses white grains, intermediate grains use beans. Even if heat evil exists, it cannot harm. This is the transformation of the six qi.

At the intersection of yearly qi, if heavenly qi overcomes, Shaoyang reverses it; if earthly qi overcomes, Taiyang reverses it. Their treatment follows the methods of reversing qi.
