Commentary states: All epidemic febrile diseases (Wenyi) occurring in seasonal transitions are caused by the abnormal qi of the four seasons. When contracted, the symptoms are generally similar regardless of age or seniority. If this disease is not prevented and eliminated, it often leads to contagion. Therefore, there should be specific methods and prescriptions for preventive measures.
Formula for Bai Gui Tang (Decoction of Spoiled Turtle Shell) to prevent seasonal epidemic febrile diseases and stop contagion:
Bai Gui (Spoiled turtle shell, roasted with butter, half liang), Zhizi Ren (Gardenia seed), Daqing (Isatidis Folium), Lingyang Jiao (Antelope horn, shaved), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Mayaxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, radix removed), Ziwan (Asteris Radix, radix and soil removed, each one unit).
The above eight herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Take five qianbi per dose, add one dan and a half of water, decoct until eight parts remain, strain, and take warm before meals.
Formula for Juezhang San (Powder to Eliminate Miasma) to prevent seasonal epidemic pestilence:
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, nodes removed), Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus, bark removed), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix, leaves and stems removed), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed until cracked, skin and umbilicus removed), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, eyes and closed-mouth ones removed, stir-fried until sweat appears), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, branches removed), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, stir-fried), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, each half liang).

The above five herbs are pounded and ground into powder, then mixed thoroughly. Combine with refined honey to form pills the size of hemp seeds. Take five pills per dose with rice drink, at any time.
Formula for Piwen Tang (Decoction to Ward Off Warmth) for epidemic pestilence:
Gancao (Licorice root), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, each two qian), Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Fructus, one qian, all used raw).
The above three herbs are finely cut. Add two dan of water, decoct until one dan remains, strain, and take hot on an empty stomach. Effectiveness is indicated by the passage of foul matter in the evening.

The above five herbs are pounded and ground into powder, then mixed thoroughly. On New Year's Day, take one qianbi mixed with warm wine in the morning. If many people fall ill during the year, take it on the first and fifteenth days. If an epidemic occurs, do not restrict the time.
Formula for Qianghuo Tang (Decoction of Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) for contagious seasonal epidemics, suitable for pre-administration:

Note: Text says "Pi", likely missing character like Xi/Rhinoceros, but strictly translating as written or inferring standard context if clear. Given "Longgu" and others, likely animal parts. Text says "Pi", possibly typo for "Xi" or just skin. I will translate as "Skin/Hide" based on literal "Pi" but note ambiguity. Actually, looking at standard texts, it might be "Pixi" (Leopard skin) or similar. However, strict adherence: "Pi" means skin/hide. Let's assume generic animal hide or specific if known. In TCM formulas, "Pi" alone is rare. It might be a typo for "Xi" (Rhino) or "Hu" (Tiger). Given "Hugu" is already there, maybe "Pixi" (Leopard). But I must stick to text. "Pi" = Skin. I will use "Animal skin/hide"), Kongqing (Azurite, half liang, ground), Guijia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, one liang), Chuji (Cantharis, seven pieces), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, two liang), Zhenzhu (Pearl, three liang, ground), Lingqi Jia (Manis Squama, one liang).
