Discussion states: Wind-water infection in metal weapon injuries (Jinchuang, traumatic wounds caused by sharp metal instruments) is caused by inadequate sealing and wrapping of the wound. The manifestation of wind invasion is that the wound suddenly stops discharging fluid; the manifestation of water toxin invasion is the discharge of bluish-yellow fluid, accompanied by pain attacks, muscle swelling and induration, and impending spasm. Urgent treatment is required. Whenever spasm occurs, characterized by oral tightness, dorsal rigidity, head shaking with sounds resembling a horse's neigh, opisthotonos (backward bending of the body like a bow), recurrent episodes, breathlessness as if severed, and profuse sweating like rain, treatment must not be delayed; delay renders it incurable.
To treat metal weapon injuries, repel wind and water toxins, reconnect bones and tendons, stop bleeding and relieve pain. Baxian San (Eight Immortals Powder) Formula:
Fenghua Shidian (Weathered Iron Oxide Stone, 10 liang), Dixun Miao (Herba Isatidis Fresh Leaves, cut and ground, 0.5 liang), Xixin (Radix Asari, remove roots and leaves), Xuanfu Gen (Rhizoma Inulae, cut and ground), Xin Ge Ye (Fresh Foliage of Pueraria lobata).
Of the above eight ingredients, excluding Fenghua Shidian and Zhu Gao (Pig Fat), grind the remaining six ingredients finely, extract their juice, mix with Fenghua Shidian and Zhu Gao, knead into cakes, dry in the sun, grind into powder, sieve again to achieve a fine powder consistency. Apply to the wound to stop bleeding, relieve pain, and promote tissue regeneration. Prepare on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.
To treat old fractures and sprains where sudden disharmony of wind and qi causes unbearable pain at the old injury site. Shu Gan Dihuang Wan (Prepared Rehmannia Pill) Formula:
Shu Gan Dihuang Huang (Prepared Radix Rehmanniae, dried by baking, 4 liang), Xingren (Semen Pruni Armeniacae, blanched, skin and tip removed, split kernels fried and separately ground), Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, remove roots, wine-soaked, dried, 1.5 liang each), Kushen (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis, 1 liang), Guizhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi, remove coarse bark, 1 liang).
Of the above twelve ingredients, excluding Xingren, grind finely through a silk sieve. Add Xingren, grind separately, and mix uniformly. Combine with refined honey, pound three thousand times, and form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 20-30 pills orally with warm wine on an empty stomach.
To stop bleeding in metal weapon injuries. Heisan Zi (Black Powder) Formula:

Make dough wrappers based on wound size, bake in ashes until cooked. Poke a hole while hot, apply to wound to draw out wind. Make dozens, rotate usage, replace when cool.
To treat inability to speak due to trismus from wind invasion in metal weapon injuries. Moxibustion Method:
Manjingzi (Fructus Viticis Negundo, washed clean, 1 sheng).
Grind thoroughly, shape into moxa cones. Apply 2-3 cones directly on the wound. Cure when heat penetrates.
To treat spasms and opisthotonos from wind invasion in metal weapon injuries. Langdang Gen Tu (Scopolia Root External Application) Formula:
Langdang Gen (Root of Hyoscyamus/Langdang).
Cut root flat to fit wound size; bundle several if large. Mix one he of pig fat with salt the size of an egg yolk, cook into ointment. Dip flat side of root in ointment, apply warm to wound, replace when cool. Stop when cured. Avoid external wind.
If trauma prevents avoidance of wind leading to spasm and trismus, or if neck stiffness and body rigidity are felt, first take this Zhuli Yin (Bamboo Juice Drink):
Zhuli (Bamboo Juice, 3 sheng).
Warm and divide into 5-6 doses. Pry open mouth and pour in if necessary.

On the morning of the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, send four people to the four directions to collect plant stems and leaves within five li. Take half a handful of each type, ensuring nothing is missed. On the noon of the first day of the first lunar month, finely chop and pound herbs with iron oxide stone (Shidian) until thoroughly mixed. Ratio: one shi of herbs to one dou of Shidian. Carve a hole in solid mulberry wood, fill with herb mixture, pack tightly, cover with mulberry bark, seal with thick mud made from pounded Shidian to prevent gas leakage, wrap firmly with mulberry bark. Retrieve on the afternoon of the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, dry in shade. After one hundred days, the medicine is ready. Pound, sieve through silk, store. For any bleeding traumatic wound, apply firmly, immobilize. Cure within ten days without swelling, suppuration, or wind sensitivity. If applied days later, wash wound with warm water to release blood before application. Highly effective. Prepare in advance for emergencies. No other formula compares.
To treat swelling and pain from water/wind invasion and cold-dampness in metal weapon injuries, which can be fatal if swelling spreads inward. Use fumigation. Formula:
