[Zhuling (Polyporus)] Sweet and bitter in taste, neutral in nature, non-toxic. It primarily treats malaria, resolves gu poison (parasitic diseases) and zhu qi (contagious diseases), and promotes urination. *Xiaoxing Lun* states: Its nature is slightly hot. It resolves the high fever of cold-warm epidemic diseases, induces sweating, and treats swelling and acute abdominal pain with fullness. *Tang Ben Yu* states: It eliminates pathogenic factors. *Waitai Miyao* states: It treats stranguria during pregnancy and also treats constipation in infants. *Zimu Milu* states: It treats edema extending from the feet to the abdomen in pregnant women, accompanied by difficult urination and slight thirst with a desire to drink. *Chanru Fang* states: It treats generalized edema of the whole body with difficult urination. Another method says: Harvest the roots, peel them, bake them dry, and apply them topically to treat sores and toxins.

[Unnamed Drug II] Bitter in taste, neutral in nature, non-toxic. It primarily invigorates blood, dispels stasis, and relieves pain; treats metal weapon injuries (Jin Chuang), beating injuries, various malignant sores, sudden bleeding from hemorrhoids and fistulas, eye nebulae, vertigo, pain, and redness. *Xiaoxing Lun* states: It can be used alone. Taste is bitter and acrid. It mainly treats traumatic injuries, blood stasis in the heart and abdomen, falls and fractures, and pain in the sinews and bones. For unbearable pain caused by blade wounds, it should be taken with wine for good effect. Ri Huazi states: It breaks up masses, resolves old blood, and reduces swelling and toxicity.

[Wuyao (Linderae Radix)] Acrid in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic. It treats sudden nausea and abdominal pain due to evil invasion, gu poison, zhu wu, and ghostly qi (ancient terms for sudden mental abnormalities or infectious diseases), retained food that fails to digest, epidemic miasma, cold qi attacking the back and spine between the bladder and kidneys, gynecological blood and qi disorders, and various intestinal parasites in children. When its leaves and roots are tender, they are harvested to make tea cakes, roasted, ground, and decocted for drinking; this tonifies the middle jiao and qi, and stops frequent and slippery urination. Ri Huazi states: It treats all types of qi stagnation, dispels all cold, hoarse vomiting and regurgitation, diarrhea and dysentery, carbuncles, furuncles, scabies, and leprosy-like conditions, and resolves heat as well as various diseases in cats and dogs. It can also be applied externally after grinding. *Doumen Fang* states: It treats Yin-Du Shanghan (Yin-Toxin Cold Damage). Take one he of Wuyao Zi (seeds), stir-fry until black smoke rises, add to the decoction, boil three to five times, and drink one large cup. Wait for sweating to occur; returning yang will lead to immediate recovery.

[Unnamed Drug IV] Salty and bitter in taste, extremely cold in nature, non-toxic. It treats severe toxic heat, restlessness and fullness in the chest and abdomen; when mixed with water and ingested, it induces vomiting. It also treats cattle and horses suffering from acute jaundice (Ji Huang) with black sweat; administering two or three liang leads to immediate recovery. Ri Huazi states: It treats wind-induced toothache. It kills: fire toxins and facial toxins. *Haiyao Bencao* states: It treats wind-related gan pain, bone cavity wind lao (chronic osteomyelitis), and can soften all hard substances. Excessive intake causes vomiting. *Tongdian* states: It can be used to solder gold and silver.
