My fellow townsman, Mr. Ye Tianshi, when treating hematemesis, always followed the principles of Ge Kejiu's *Shi Yao Shen Shu* (Ten Divine Medicines Book), further considering the patient's temperament and the depth of the disease. [With flexible adaptation], even if Lu Yi and Bian Que were reborn, they would find it difficult to handle. Having possessed this book for years at home, nearly obtaining the "Mai Wang" (a metaphor for profound diagnostic insight), I hastened to have it printed. However, the book only lists ten formulas, and the world neglects them because there are few; little do they know that within these ten formulas, through intricate variations, thousands or hundreds of formulas can be derived. Therefore, I also adopted Zhou's explanations to make them roughly understandable to beginners. Those engaged in this profession, upon carefully examining the term "Xu Sun" (Deficiency and Damage), distinguishing whether it proceeds from top to bottom or bottom to top, will naturally not start indiscriminately with the six-ingredient formula. Cheng Yongpei of Gu Wu, titled Shou Qiao, recorded this.
This is a secret manuscript from Ye Tianshi's family collection. All versions circulated prior to this were forgeries. After I retired from officialdom, I finally obtained the original book, re-revised and annotated it, intending to attach it after the *Shang Han Lun* to facilitate its dissemination. Although unconventional, it does not deviate from orthodoxy, thus it is worthy of adoption. Chen Nianzu of Changle, Fujian, recorded this.
Mr. Ge Kejiu of Gusu was proficient in prescription arts and shared fame with Zhu Danxi (Zhu Zhenheng). His work, *Shi Yao Shen Shu*, specifically treats deficiency and damage. Although the compilation only [lists ten formulas], it has been widely transmitted; all versions circulated prior to this were forgeries. After Xiuyuan resigned and returned home, he obtained the original book, added annotations, and intended to publish it attached after the *Shang Han Lun* and *Jin Gui Yao Lue*, but did not succeed. In the year Yimao, Xuan obtained a manuscript copy from an old bookstore, which has now been three years. Consulting various experts in prescriptions, none had this book. Not daring to keep it private, I organized it into vernacular songs for decoctions and hastily planned to print it to spread it widely, hoping not to fail Mr. Ge's intention of saving the world and people.
In the year Xianfeng, specifically the second year of the Renzi cycle (Xianfeng 2), in the late winter, the humble student Lin Shouxuan respectfully wrote the postscript.
