Agastis Herba (Huoxiang, 藿香) [2 liang] Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum (Banxia, 半夏) prepared with ginger juice; Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Guangchenpi, 广陈皮); Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng, 桔梗); Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu, 白术) stir-fried with soil; Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Nongpu, 浓朴) stir-fried with ginger juice; Poria (Baifuling, 白茯苓); Perillae Folium (Zisu, 紫苏); Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi, 白芷)
[each 1 liang]; Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草) [2.5 liang]; Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, 黄连) de-routed [2 liang]; Moslae Herba (Xiangru, 香薷) [1 jin]; Dolichoris Semen (Biandou, 扁豆) stir-fried [8 liang]; Arecae Pericarpium (Dafupi, 大腹皮) pounded seven times in black soybean water [1 liang].
The above herbs are coarsely crushed. Take 1 liang per dose, add 2 zhong of water, 3 slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang, 生姜), and 2 roots of Allii Fistulosi Bulbus (Congbai, 葱白). Decoct until 1 zhong remains. Take warm after meals.
Treats fever with aversion to cold and absence of sweating, or spontaneous sweating with headache and stiff neck; or wind-strike presenting with cold pulse, or cold-injury presenting with wind pulse. It is suitable for all these conditions. This formula does not violate the contraindications of the Three Yang meridians and serves as a general dispersing agent for all four seasons. It is miraculous for warm diseases and can also resolve summerheat.
Notopterygii Radix et Rhizoma (Qianghuo, 羌活); Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, 防风); Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu, 苍术) [each 1.5 qian]; Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草); Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 川芎); Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi, 白芷); Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi, 生地); Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 黄芩); Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, 细辛) [each 1 qian; Xixin may also be used at 0.5 qian].
The above herbs are coarsely crushed. Prepare as one dose, add 2 zhong of water, 1 slice of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang, 生姜). Decoct until 1 zhong remains. Take warm.
Treats cold-injury headache, high fever with aversion to cold, wind-phlegm cough, nasal congestion with heavy voice. If there is latent heat in the Heart meridian causing dry mouth and tongue, add Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 黄芩). It is universally applicable for both warm and summerheat conditions, achieving miraculous results.
Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, 柴胡) de-embryoned; Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草) honey-fried; Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng, 桔梗); Ginseng Radix (Renshen, 人参) de-radicle; Notopterygii Radix et Rhizoma (Qianghuo, 羌活) de-embryoned; Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 川芎); Poria (Baifuling, 白茯苓) peeled; Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Zhike, 枳壳) de-albendo, stir-fried with bran; Peucedani Radix (Qianhu, 前胡) de-embryoned, washed; Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (Duohuo, 独活) de-radicle [equal parts].

The above are formulas that support healthy qi to expel pathogenic factors. However, summerheat should not be treated with sweating; mild sweating is sufficient to resolve it. Baidu San (Decoction for Resisting Poison) is particularly representative of harmonizing methods.
Treats latent heat with vomiting and diarrhea, deficiency irritability, and cholera.

The above herbs are coarsely crushed. Add 2 zhong of water, 3 slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang, 生姜), and 1 Jujubae Fructus (Zao, 枣). Decoct until 1 zhong remains. Take hot before meals.
One disperses, one astringes; one drives out, one tonifies. This represents skillful application of strength and technique. It should be used in conjunction with Liuhe Tang (Six Harmonies Decoction) for optimal effect.
