(One treatise, fifty-nine prescriptions, two moxibustion methods)
The treatise states: For those suffering from mouth sores and dental diseases, it is forbidden to consume oil, flour-based foods, alcohol, soy sauce, sour foods, vinegar, salt, greasy foods, and dried dates. Even after recovery, one must remain cautious. If not strictly observed for a long time, the condition will recur quickly; once it recurs, it is difficult to heal. Rosa rugosa root (Rosae Rugosae Radix) and Incarvillea armeniaca herb (Incarvilleae Armeniacae Herba) are miraculous medicines for mouth sores, yet people are unaware of them.
For polyps in the mouth or on the face that gradually enlarge, incise them with a knife to drain pus and blood, and they will heal.
Prescription for mouth sores that have persisted for a long time without healing, invading the chest and causing sores there, lasting more than three years:
Concentrated decoction of Rosa rugosa root juice, hold in the mouth, then slowly swallow. Take three times during the day and once at night. Use the root in winter and the stems and leaves in summer.
Another prescription: Apply ash of Incarvillea armeniaca to the affected area. It shows effect after one night and heals after two nights. If there is discharge, spit it out; do not swallow.
Prescription for recurrent mouth sores.
Achyranthes bidentata root (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, raw), Nelumbo nucifera rhizome (Rhizoma Nelumbinis) (each 3 liang), Phellodendron bark (Cortex Phellodendri) (1 liang).
Crush the above three ingredients. Wrap in cotton cloth, soak in 3 sheng of wine overnight, simmer gently until boiling once, and hold in the mouth slowly.
Shengma Decoction for persistent bladder heat causing mouth and tongue sores and throat swelling:
Cimicifuga root (Radix Cimicifugae), Scrophularia root (Radix Scrophulariae), Rosa rugosa root bark (Cortex Rosae Rugosae), Belamcanda rhizome (Rhizoma Belamcandae) (each 4 liang), Isatis leaf (Folium Isatidis), Phellodendron bark (Cortex Phellodendri) (each 3 liang), Honey (Mel) (7 he).
Crush the above seven ingredients. Boil in 7 sheng of water until reduced to 1.5 sheng, remove dregs, add honey, and boil again for two boils. Hold in the mouth and swallow slowly.
