Formula for treating gastric reflux where food is not retained, resulting in immediate vomiting after eating.
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (three sheng) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) Baimi (Mel) (each one sheng) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (two liang) Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (three liang).
The above five herbs are cut into small pieces. Using five sheng of water and honey, stir the mixture two or three hundred times. Decoct to obtain one and a half sheng of liquid. Divide into three doses.
Formula for treating gastric reflux with immediate vomiting after eating and upward rushing of qi:
Lugen (Phragmitis Rhizoma) Maogen (Imperatae Rhizoma) (each two liang, cut finely).
The above two herbs are decocted in four sheng of water to obtain two sheng of liquid. Take in one dose. If bowel movement becomes smooth, it is effective.
Another formula: Drink white horse urine to stop vomiting immediately.
Another formula: Burn a male rooster or female hen to ash, take with wine. Use male rooster for male patients and female hen for female patients.
Another formula: Wash small mustard seeds, dry them in the sun, and grind into powder. Take one fangcun bi (approx. 2-3 grams) with wine, three times daily.
Moxibustion on each point one cun below the nipples until recovery.
Also, moxibustion on the point one cun above the umbilicus, twenty moxa cones.
Also, moxibustion on the acupoint located slightly diagonally forward from the third toe under the medial malleolus, three moxa cones (Waitai Miyao states: treat the third toe as a single unit).
Formula for treating acid regurgitation (vinegar throat):
Qumo (Medicated Leaven Powder) (one jin) Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) (three jin).
The above two herbs are mixed, pounded, dried in the sun, and taken with wine, three fangcun bi per dose, three times daily.
Formula for treating belching with acid regurgitation:
Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus) (half jin) Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (three liang) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (two liang) Dazao (Jujubae Fructus) (twelve pieces).
The above four herbs are cut into small pieces. Decoct in six sheng of water to obtain two sheng of liquid. Take one sheng before meals, twice daily.

Process the above two herbs, sift them, and take one fangcun bi with wine, twice daily. Effective for cold stomach.
(One discussion, one pulse diagnosis, twenty-four formulas)
(Fifteen moxibustion methods)
In cases of vomiting, the pulse shape resembles that of someone who has just woken up: the yang pulse is tight and the yin pulse is rapid. The patient vomits immediately after eating. A floating and rapid yang pulse also indicates vomiting. If the cunkou pulse is tight and hollow (kou), tightness indicates cold, and hollowness indicates deficiency. Cold and deficiency interacting result in a yin knotting and slow pulse, leading to dysphagia (ye). A rapid pulse at the guan position indicates vomiting. A weak and choppy foot-yang (fuyang) pulse indicates diarrhea (weak pulse) and vomiting/reversal flow (choppy pulse), preventing food intake. A floating fuyang pulse indicates deficiency of stomach qi. Cold qi is above, and worry qi is below; these two energies contend, allowing only exhalation but no inhalation, causing vomiting and inability to eat. The patient feels terrified as if facing death, but recovers when relaxed. Vomiting with a weak pulse, free urination, slight body heat, and cold extremities indicate a difficult-to-treat condition.
Discussion states: For those who experience vomiting and reversal flow preventing herbal decoctions from entering the abdomen, first administer Gancao (Licorice Root) three liang, decocted in three sheng of water to obtain two sheng of liquid. Have the patient drink it to induce vomiting. If it does not induce vomiting, that is even better. Once the condition stabilizes, then administer the remaining decoction, which will flow smoothly without inducing further vomiting. Ginger (Shengjiang) should be consumed in large amounts by those who vomit; this is the sacred herb for treating vomiting.
