Da Mai Nu (Radix Hordei Nucleus, 4 liang), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 2 liang), Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, 2 liang), Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas, 2 liang), Gui Xin (Cortex Cinnamomi Ramulus, 2 liang), Mai Men Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis, 8 liang).
The above six ingredients are combined and decocted for oral administration according to the aforementioned method. If the symptoms resolve after ingestion but residual heat or cold remains in the Pi (Spleen) and Shen (Kidney), administer Ren Shen Tang (Ginseng Decoction) again.
Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, 1 liang), Gan Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, 1 liang), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 1 liang), Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 1 liang), Fu Zi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, 1 piece).
The above five ingredients are combined and decocted for oral administration according to the aforementioned method.
Bai Shi Ying (Flumen Silicatum, White Quartz) corresponds to Fu Zi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata); its therapeutic action primarily targets the Wei (Stomach) and communicates with the Pi (Spleen) and Shen (Kidney). Fu Zi activates Bai Shi Ying, leading to irritability, heat sensation, and abdominal distension. Bai Shi Ying activates Fu Zi, leading to vomiting and regurgitation, inability to eat, trismus (lockjaw), difficulty in speech, and pain in the hands and feet. This decoction is suitable for use at the initial stage when discomfort is first perceived.
Sheng Mai Men Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis, 4 liang), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 2 liang), Ma Huang (Herba Ephedrae, 2 liang), Chi Dou (Fructus Sojae Preparatus, 2 sheng).
The above four ingredients are combined and decocted for oral administration according to the aforementioned method. If the condition does not resolve, administer Da Huang Tang (Rhubarb Decoction) subsequently.
(If there is irritability, add Xi Xin (Herba Asari, 5 liang).)
Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 3 liang), Chi Dou (Fructus Sojae Preparatus, 2 sheng), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 2 liang), Zhi Zi Ren (Semen Gardenoliae, 30 pieces).
The above ingredients are combined and decocted for oral administration according to the aforementioned method. Administer frequently until defecation occurs, then stop; if defecation has not occurred, consume the entire dose. If the heat pathogen persists and the patient exhibits a red complexion and thirst, administer Gua Lou Gen (Radix Trichosanthis) Tang subsequently.
Gua Lou Gen (Radix Trichosanthis, 4 liang), Da Mai Nu (Radix Hordei Nucleus, 4 liang), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 2 liang), Chi Dou (Fructus Sojae Preparatus, 2 sheng), Cong Bai (Sclerium Allii Cepae, 8 liang).
The above five ingredients are combined and decocted for oral administration according to the aforementioned method. Take small amounts each time (approximately one liang he), drinking about one sheng, after which the patient may consume a small amount of thin porridge and move the mouth. If the condition resolves but residual heat remains in the Wei (Stomach), administer Mang Xiao Tang (Natrii Sulfas Decoction) subsequently.
Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas, 2 liang), Gui Xin (Cortex Cinnamomi Ramulus, 2 liang), Li He Ren (Semen Pruni Armeniacae, 21 pieces), Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, 1 liang), Da Zao (Fructus Jujubae, 20 pieces), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 3 liang), Tong Cao (Medulla Tetrapanacis, 3 liang).
The above seven ingredients are combined and decocted for oral administration according to the aforementioned method. If abdominal distension is present, remove Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) and add Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, 2 liang).
Zi Shi Ying (Flumen Silicatum, Purple Quartz) corresponds to Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng); its therapeutic action primarily targets the Xin (Heart) and Gan (Liver) and communicates with the Yao (Waist) and Jiao (Legs). Ren Shen activates Zi Shi Ying (recorded as Xi Xin (Herba Asari) and Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng) in *Waitai Mi Yao*), leading to pain, palpitations, insomnia, mental confusion, forgetfulness, loss of normal temperament with manic episodes, drowsiness, irritability, fluctuating severity of illness, alternating chills and fever, deafness, and blurred vision. Furthermore, although Fang Feng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) does not correspond to Zi Shi Ying, it can activate Fang Feng (as noted in *Waitai Mi Yao*: "Although Fang Feng does not correspond to Zi Shi Ying, because the prescription contains Ren Shen, and Fang Feng activates Ren Shen, they mutually stimulate each other causing heart pain and irritability"). This leads to stiffness of the head and neck. This formula should be taken at the initial stage when discomfort is first perceived. (Referred to as Huang Tang in *Waitai Mi Yao*.)
Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, 3 liang), Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, 3 liang), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, absent in *Waitai Mi Yao*), Gui Xin (Cortex Cinnamomi Ramulus, 2 liang), Xi Xin (Herba Asari, 1 liang), Chi Dou (Fructus Sojae Preparatus, 3 sheng).
The above six ingredients are combined and decocted for oral administration according to the aforementioned method. If irritability is severe, add Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae), and Zhi Zi (Semen Gardenoliae), each 3 liang. If forgetfulness and manic episodes persist, administer the first Sheng Mai Men Dong Tang (Raw Ophiopogon Decoction) listed below subsequently.
