Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) - 1 sheng
Shengjiang (Zingiberis Recens Rhizoma) - 0.5 jin
Fuling (Poria) - 3 liang
The above three herbs are coarsely crushed. Boil in 7 sheng of water until reduced to 1.5 sheng. Strain and take warm, divided into two doses. (Hu Qia's formula does not use Fuling, but uses Guixin [Cinnamomi Cortex] 4 liang.)
If a thin person experiences palpitations below the umbilicus, vomits saliva and foam, and suffers from epileptic-like dizziness due to water retention, this formula is indicated. (See the formula in the previous volume on Shanghan Upper.)
Treats abdominal fullness and dry mouth, indicating water qi in the intestines; this formula is indicated.
Jiaomu (Semen Lepidii et Descurainiae)
Mufangji (Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae)

The above four herbs are powdered and made into pills the size of wu zi (Chinese parasol tree seeds) with honey. Take one pill before meals with water, three times daily. Gradually increase the dose until saliva flows freely in the mouth. If thirst is severe, add Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) 0.5 liang.
When the patient's pulse is deep and hidden (Fu), and they desire spontaneous diarrhea, which brings relief, yet the epigastrium remains hard and full despite the diarrhea, this is Liuyin (Retained Fluid). It indicates the body's attempt to expel the pathogen.
