Formula for treating various vomiting conditions.
Duheng (Asarum heterotropoides), Songluo (Usnea), each 3 liang; Guding (Trichosanthes kirilowii fruit, dried), 14 pieces.
The above three herbs are cut into small pieces and soaked in 1 sheng 2 he of wine for two nights. Strain the dregs and divide into two doses. If vomiting occurs after the first dose, stop administration. If no vomiting occurs, administer the second dose. The interval between doses should be equivalent to the time it takes a person to walk ten li. After the medicinal effect is fully exerted, consume 1 sheng of thin porridge to stabilize the condition. This formula is also effective for the elderly and children.
Formula for treating alternating chills and fever.
Honey (5 he), Hengshan (Dichroa febrifuga), Gancao (Glycyrrhiza uralensis), each 1 liang (another version uses 0.5 liang).
Take the first two herbs from the above three, cut them into small pieces, boil in 1 dou of water until reduced to 2 sheng, strain the dregs, add honey, and take 7 he warm. Stop if vomiting occurs. If no vomiting occurs, take another 7 he. Do not drink cold water during this process.
Another formula: Honey (2 he), Vinegar (8 he).
Mix the above two ingredients evenly and take all at once in the early morning. Soon, there will be a strong sensation of nausea and urge to vomit; induce vomiting. If the feeling of fullness in the chest remains, administer again the next morning. Severe cases will result in profuse vomiting and subsequent relief.
Formula for treating sudden severe headache as if breaking, neither caused by cold nor wind-stroke. The pain is due to phlegm-jue qi rushing up from the chest and diaphragm, named Jue Tou Tong (Jue-type Headache). Vomiting leads to recovery.
Boil tea alone to make a beverage, approximately 2-3 sheng. Drink 2 sheng according to temperature suitability. Soon, induce vomiting. After vomiting, drink again. Repeat this several times. In severe cases, bile must be vomited out to stop the pain. This method does not damage the body; thirst indicates recovery.
Formula for treating cold-heat phlegm in the diaphragm, characterized by headache, dizziness, confusion, and an urge to vomit without success.
Congbai (Scallion white), 14 stems; Tao Ye (Peach leaf), one handful (or Pipa Ye, Loquat leaf); Zhenzhu (Pearl); Hengshan (Dichroa febrifuga); Wutou (Aconitum carmichaelii); Gancao (Glycyrrhiza uralensis), each 0.5 liang.
The above six herbs are cut into small pieces and boiled together with 4 sheng of wine and 4 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Strain the dregs and add powdered pearl. Take 1 sheng per dose. Stop if vomiting occurs.

4. Yi Yin (Overflowing Fluid): Water overflows between the upper diaphragm and the five zang organs.
5. Liu Yin (Flowing Fluid): Water exists in the intestines, making sounds when moved.
These five types of Yin are caused by drinking alcohol followed by excessive consumption of cold water during Shanghan (Cold Damage) disease.
