Formula for treating Baihe disease (Lily Disease) that recurs after purgation.
Baihe Rhizome (Seven pieces, broken apart) Shihuang (Calcitum, 3 liang) Daizhe (Haematitum, 1 liang)
Take the above three ingredients. First, soak the Baihe Rhizome in spring water overnight. The next morning, discard the soaking water. Boil the Baihe Rhizome in two sheng of spring water to obtain one sheng of decoction, then filter out the dregs. Separately, boil the remaining two ingredients in two sheng of water to obtain one sheng of decoction. Pour this into the Baihe Rhizome decoction and boil again according to the previous method to obtain one and a half sheng. Divide into two doses for administration.
Formula for treating Baihe disease that recurs after emesis.
Take seven pieces of Baihe Rhizome, break them apart, and soak them overnight. Discard the soaking water. Boil in two sheng of spring water to obtain one sheng of decoction. Add one egg yolk to the decoction, stir until well mixed, and divide into two doses for administration.
Formula for treating Baihe disease that has not yet undergone diaphoresis, emesis, or purgation, presenting with initial symptoms.
Take seven pieces of Baihe Rhizome, break them apart, and soak them overnight. Discard the soaking water. Boil in two sheng of spring water to obtain one sheng of decoction. Add one sheng of fresh Shengdi Huang juice (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata juice), and boil again to obtain one and a half sheng. Divide into two doses for administration. The expulsion of foul foam indicates efficacy.
Formula for treating Baihe disease that persists for a month and develops into thirst:
One sheng of Baihe Radix (Shan Yao, Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma). Soak in ten dou of water overnight. Use this liquid to wash the patient's body first, then consume white wheat noodles cooked in plain water. Do not provide salt or fermented soybeans. If thirst does not resolve, use Tian Hua Fen (Radix Trichosanthis) and Mu Li (Concha Ostreae) in equal parts, ground into powder. Take one fangcun bi (a measure equivalent to the size of a square inch spoon) with water, three times daily.
Formula for treating Baihe disease that transforms into fever:
Baihe Radix (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, 1 liang, dried) Shihuang (Calcitum, 3 liang)
Process the above two ingredients and sieve into fine powder. Take one fangcun bi with water, three times daily. Mild diarrhea is expected; discontinue use once diarrhea stops, and the fever will be eliminated. (Another version states it treats Baihe disease...)
Formula for treating Baihe disease that transforms into abdominal fullness and pain:
Take an appropriate amount of Baihe Radix (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma), roast until yellow, grind and sieve into powder. Take one fangcun bi with water, three times daily. Abdominal fullness will subside and pain will cease.
(One discussion, three formulas)
Discussion: Huo Er disease (Huo Er Syndrome) presents similarly to Shanghan (Cold Damage). The patient is taciturn, desires sleep but cannot close their eyes, and feels restless sitting or lying down. When the pathogenic toxin is located in the throat, it is called "Huo" disease; when located in the genitalia or anus, it is called "Hu" disease. Patients with Huo Er disease dislike food and are sensitive to odors. Their complexion may appear flushed red, pale white, or dark black intermittently. If the toxin affects the upper part, hoarseness occurs ("He" is a variant character for "Sha", meaning hoarse voice); if it affects the lower part, dryness of the throat occurs. This condition is caused by warm toxic qi. For toxin affecting the upper part, Xixin Tang (Heart-Draining Decoction) is the primary treatment. For toxin affecting the lower part, Kushen Tang (Sophorae Flavescentis Decoction) is used for fumigation and washing. For toxin outside the anus, use Xionghuang (Realgar) for fumigation. Specifically, place three small pieces of Xionghuang in a clay bottle, burn with charcoal, and fumigate the anus while simultaneously administering the decoction.
Formula for treating Huo Er disease:
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 4 liang) Xuncao (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, 4 liang)
Chop the above two ingredients. Soak in one dou of vinegar slurry overnight. Boil to obtain two sheng of decoction. Divide into three doses for administration.
