Discussion: Ancient physicians formulated prescriptions based on the cold or heat nature of the disease root. Modern people, in urgent situations, hastily search for remedies, resulting in frequent ineffectiveness. Therefore, before using a prescription, one must first determine whether the condition is cold or heat. Only then can one select an appropriate formula, ensuring efficacy for both soups and wines, as well as pills and powders. The onset of wind diseases is invariably caused by excessive heat; hence, cooling agents like Zhuli (Bamboo Sap) and Ge Zhi (Kudzu Juice) are employed. Later practitioners often fail to carefully discern the intent behind these formulas, prompting this exposition. Treatment for wind should not be administered if the patient lacks a sealed room. If one forces themselves to reside in a drafty room, they are susceptible to wind pathogens; how much more so for someone taking medicinal herbs?
Prescription for treating Fengfei (Wind Paralysis) manifesting as aphasia and hemiplegia/limb paralysis:
Measure the distance from the inner crease between the little finger and ring finger to the tip of the little finger. Place this measurement vertically from the umbilicus towards the epigastrium. Mark the upper end of this measurement with cinnabar. Repeat this process to create a second identical measure. Align the top of the second measure with the bottom mark made previously. Open the top section to retrieve the original length. Place this horizontally across the opening such that the three points converge, forming a shape resembling an inverted "Y". For males, measure the left hand; for females...
