To treat Liver deficiency-cold syndrome, as well as miscellaneous diseases such as tearing in the wind, the formula for brewing Pine Resin Wine.
Take ten *jin* (approx. 5 kg) of pine resin (*Larix Gummifer*), finely chopped. Soak it in water for one week, then boil it. Slowly skim off the upper layer that condenses into a paste. When the water is exhausted, add more. Continue boiling until all the resin is used up, following the previous method, until the smoke ceases and the fire stops. After cooling, the resin will settle at the bottom. Take one *jin* of this resin to brew with one *shi* (approx. 100 L) of rice, seven *dou* (approx. 70 L) of water, and two *dou* of fine yeast powder. Follow the common household method for brewing wine: add the cooked rice when it has cooled, seal the vessel for one hundred days. The resin, rice, and yeast will completely dissolve and blend. The wine will be fragrant throughout the room; drink it slowly.
Another formula: Crush the fruits of *Lycium barbarum* (*Gouqizi*), place them first in a silk bag. Typically, soak one *dou* of *Lycium barbarum* fruits in two *dou* of wine. Seal the clay jar tightly with mud to prevent leakage, and dry in the sun (Note: The original text ends abruptly with "expose to dry" followed by "Heaven", likely indicating a missing character or formatting error; context implies soaking and sealing).
To treat Liver deficiency-cold syndrome where vision is unclear, and careful gazing causes visual hallucinations resembling flowers.
*Fangfeng* (Saposhnikoviae Radix), *Xixin* (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), *Chuanxiong* (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), *Baixianpi* (Dictamni Cortex), *Duhuo* (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 3 *liang*); *Jupi* (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (2 *liang*); *Dazao* (Ziziphi Jujubae Fructus) (21-21 pieces); *Ganzhuye* (likely referring to a type of bamboo leaf, e.g., *Dan Zhuye* / Lophatheri Herba, though text says "Sweet Bamboo Leaf") (quantity implied by "ten flavors").
The above ten herbs are coarsely crushed. Add one *dou* and two *sheng* (approx. 12 L) of water. First decoct the first nine herbs, reduce to four *sheng* (approx. 4 L), remove the dregs, add honey, and boil again for two cycles. Divide into four doses. Take three times during the day and once at night. If stored in May or June, keep in a dry container and refrigerate with cold water.
To treat Liver deficiency-cold syndrome characterized by pain and distension in the hypochondrium, shortness of breath, blurred vision, and unclear sight.
*Binglang* (Arecae Semen) (24 pieces); *Mujiang* (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (7 *liang*); *Fuzi* (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (7 pieces); *Fuling* (Poria); *Jupi* (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium); *Guixin* (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (each 3 *liang*); *Jiegeng* (Platycodonis Radix); *Baizhu* (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (each 4 *liang*); *Wuzhuyu* (Evodiae Fructus) (5 *liang*).
The above nine herbs are coarsely crushed. Add nine *sheng* (approx. 9 L) of water, decoct to obtain three *sheng* (approx. 3 L), remove the dregs, and divide into three warm doses. If accompanied by asthma, add *Chuanxiong* (3 *liang*), *Banxia* (Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum) (4 *liang*), and *Gancao* (2 *liang*).
For unclear vision due to Liver deficiency, moxa-convulse the *Ganshu* (BL-18) acupoint 200 cones. For children, adjust the dosage appropriately to 21-21 cones.
Liver and Gallbladder both deficient:
If the pulse at the Guan position on the left hand shows both Yin and Yang deficiency, it indicates deficiency in both the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian and the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian. The disease presents as mental confusion, *Shijue* (corpse-like fainting/unconsciousness), visual hallucinations, shortness of breath, inability to speak, and frequent spontaneous startles. This is named Liver and Gallbladder both deficient.
