Translation:
It is said that various diseases caused by evil pathogens have diverse origins. Those presenting with various abnormal forms and showing the beginnings of manic-epileptic disorders can be diagnosed by observing their symptoms. Some patients remain silent without speaking, while others talk excessively and ramble; some sing, cry, moan, or laugh; some sleep in ditches and eat feces and filth; some expose their naked bodies, while others wander day and night without rest; some curse endlessly, and some seem driven by gu poison or guided by spirits, with restless hands and feet and anxious, fearful eyes. For such types of manic and epileptic patients, acupuncture and herbal medicine are now used together for treatment.
Regarding the prediction of wind-pathogen diseases, Bian Que stated: For diseases caused by a hundred types of evil pathogens, there are thirteen acupuncture points. When needling, one should start from the Guigong (Ghost Palace) point, then needle the Guixin (Ghost Trust) point, proceed to the Guilou (Ghost Fortress) point, and then to the Guixin (Ghost Heart) point. After needling five or six points, the condition can be ascertained. If the disease is caused by the essence of evil gu, the patient will speak about its origin themselves. In treatment, for men, needling starts from the left side; for women, it starts from the right side. If the patient does not respond after multiple inquiries, all points should be needled. Additionally, one must treat according to the palm formula by twisting the eyes, ensuring absolute accuracy. The Yellow Emperor's Palm Formula is a secret technique of practitioners. The first point is Renzhong (Human Middle), named Guigong (Ghost Palace); insert from the left and exit on the right. The second point is under the nail of the thumb, named Guixin (Ghost Trust); insert three fen into the flesh. The third point is under the nail of the big toe, named Guilou (Ghost Fortress); insert two fen into the flesh. The fourth point is at the wrist crease, named Guixin (Ghost Heart); insert half cun into the flesh (i.e., Taiyuan LU9). The fifth point is at the white flesh boundary below the lateral malleolus on the Foot-Taiyang channel, named Guilu (Ghost Road); use fire needles seven times, inserting three times each (i.e., Shenmai BL62). The sixth point is one cun above the hairline up from Dazhui GV14, named Guizhen (Ghost Pillow); use fire needles seven times, inserting three times each. The seventh point is in the depression at the hairline anterior to the ear, five fen below the earlobe, named Guichuang (Ghost Bed); use fire needles seven times, inserting three times each. The eighth point is Chengjiang CV24, named Guishi (Ghost Market); insert from left and exit on right. The ninth point is three cun above the wrist crease between the two tendons, named Guilu (Ghost Road) [Note: Text repeats name, likely error in source or distinct point]; this is Laogong PC8. The tenth point is one cun above the hairline straight up from the nose, named Guitang (Ghost Hall); use fire needles seven times, inserting three times each (i.e., Shangxing GV23). The eleventh point is in the genital cleft, moxa three zhu; for women, it is Yumen Tou; named Guicang (Ghost Storehouse). The twelfth point is at the outer edge of the Chize crease connecting to the white flesh boundary, named Guichen (Ghost Minister); use fire needles seven times, inserting three times each (i.e., Quchi LI11). The thirteenth point is one cun on the tongue, at the lower seam of the middle of the tongue, pierce through to the top of the tongue, named Guifeng (Ghost Seal); place a board horizontally across the mouth corners to fix the needle head so the tongue cannot move. If the previous points are paired opposites on hands and feet, needle both; if isolated, needle singly. For delirious speech caused by evil ghosts, moxibustion on Xuanming (fourteen zhu) is used (the point is in the center of the lips where the muscle fibers converge, also named Guilu; cutting the fiber with force is better). For stupor and unconsciousness due to evil disease, Fengfu GV16 is the main point (also named Guixue). For shouting, cursing, and running away due to evil disease, moxibustion on the ten finger ends, one fen from the nails, is used (also named Guicheng). For shouting, cursing, and running far away due to evil disease, Zusanli ST36 is the main point (also named Guixie). For heaviness of the four limbs like ghost mania, Xingshang is the main point (also named Guimen). For heaviness, pain in the four limbs, and various miscellaneous symptoms, Chize LU5 is the main point (the radial artery at Cun Guan is also named Guishou). For incessant babbling and various miscellaneous symptoms...
Cang Gong's Method: For mania and epilepsy with loss of recognition, and vertigo/confusion due to dian disease, moxa Baihui GV20 nine zhu. For violent running and convulsions, moxa Yuzhen GB15 three cun above, or another method is moxa one cun behind the neck one hundred zhu. For manic evil ghost speech, moxa Tianchuang SI16 nine zhu. For manic running and epilepsy, moxa two cun behind the vertex twelve zhu. Or moxa Dayou one hundred zhu; for rambling and trance, moxa Tianshu ST25 one hundred zhu. For manic running and epilepsy, moxa the end of the costal margin thirty zhu, or moxa Hekou fifty zhu (point in the depression behind the wrist at the arterial pulse). For manic epilepsy weeping, moxa Shou Nizhu thirty zhu (six cun behind the wrist on both sides). For manic epilepsy with tongue protrusion, moxa Weiwuan one hundred zhu. For sudden manic attacks, unkempt hair, loud screaming wanting to kill, disregarding fire and water, and delirious speech, moxa Jianshi PC5 thirty zhu (five cun behind the wrist, between the two bones of the arm; also treats fright, crying, and singing). For manic running, joy, anger, sadness, and weeping, moxa Chenjue (also written Ju Jiao, located on the inner back of the scapula where the hand cannot reach, on the bone spine; press to find tenderness). Moxa according to age. For manic evil ghost speech, moxa Futu ST32 one hundred zhu. For weeping and ghost speech, moxa Tianfu LU3 fifty zhu. For weeping, evil speech, and frantic singing/crying, moxa Cimen fifty zhu. For manic fright and epilepsy, moxa Chengming thirty zhu (three cun above the posterior medial malleolus on the arterial pulse). For manic epilepsy, wind, fright, reversal, and vexation, moxa Juyang fifty zhu. For manic ghost speech, moxa Foot-Taiyang forty zhu. For manic running and fright/trance, moxa Foot-Yangming thirty zhu. For frequent manic epilepsy, moxa Foot-Shaoyang, according to age. For manic fainting resembling death, moxa the hair tuft on the big toe nine zhu (some say Dadun LR1). For manic cursing, moxa Bahui (five fen below Yangming), according to age. For manic epilepsy, fright, running, trance, anger/joy, laughing, cursing, singing, crying, and ghost speech, moxa Naohu GV17, Fengchi GB20, Hand-Yangming, Taiyang, Taiyin, Foot-Yangming, Yangqiao, Shaoyang, Taiyin, Yinqiao, and heel, all according to age. For fright, palpitations, and weakness, moxa Daheng SP15 fifty zhu. For manic cursing and beating people, named Re Yang Feng, moxa one zhu at the red-white junction at the corners of the mouth (Yankou), and thirty zhu in the scrotal suture. Have the patient lie supine and moxa over the testicles, but do not touch the front middle to avoid damaging yang qi. For stabbing or near-death due to manic running, incessant cursing, and claiming to be gods/spirits, moxa one zhu at the red-white junction of the mouth corner, five zhu in the flexion of both elbows, and three zhu in the middle of the shoulder blades. Repeat moxa (Cang Gong's method is miraculous). For ghost possession, moxa one cun into the hairline one hundred zhu, and moxa Jianshi PC5 and palm fifty zhu each. For fox spirit possession, bind the thumbs together, moxa Hegu LI4 interstice twenty-one zhu; cure when fox sounds cease. For sudden manic rambling and ghost speech, tightly bind with a steamer belt, secure both thumbs, and moxa two points opposite at the flexed rib heads under the armpits, seven zhu each; soon the ghost will state its name. Ask it to leave slowly, then release the hands. For sudden possession causing trance, tremors, and teeth chattering, moxa Renzhong GV26 and the roots of the nails on both big toes. Place half the moxa cone on the nail and half on the flesh, seven zhu each; if ineffective, fourteen zhu. Cone size like a sparrow droppings. For wind evil, moxa Jianshi PC5 according to age, plus Chengjiang CV24 seven zhu, Xinshu BL15 seven zhu, and Zusanli ST36 seven zhu. For sudden manic ghost oppression, needle slightly under the nail of the big toe and stop.
