Formula for treating epidemic diseases with sores in the lower part (anus or vagina).
Xionghuang (Realgar, *Realgar*) (half tael)
Taoren (Peach Seed, *Persicae Semen*) (one tael)
Qingxiangzi (Celosia Seed, *Celosiae Semen*)
Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, *Coptidis Rhizoma*)
Kushen (Sophora Root, *Sophorae Flavescentis Radix*) (three taels each)
Grind the above five herbs into fine powder. Wrap in silk like a date pit and insert into the lower part. Alternatively, take one cunbi (approx. 2-3 grams) of powder with jujube juice, three times daily.
Formula for treating damp sores
Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, *Indigo Naturalis*) (two taels)
Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, *Coptidis Rhizoma*)
Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark, *Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex*)
Dingxiang (Clove, *Caryophylli Flos*) (one tael each)
Shexiang (Musk, *Moschus*) (two fen)
Process the above five herbs and sieve them. Insert an amount the size of a small jujube into the lower part once daily. For severe cases, mix an amount the size of a jujube with Chezhi (animal fat, approx. 2-3 he) and irrigate into the lower part twice daily.
Formula for treating sores in the lower part:
Boil Taopi (Peach Skin, *Pruni Persicae Pericarpium*) thickly until it resembles maltose syrup. Take this liquid and insert it into the lower part; if there are sores in the mouth, hold it in the mouth.
Formula for treating damp sores:
Take fresh ginger, scrape off the skin, cut along the grain, and cook until extremely soft. Grind and extract one and a half sheng of juice. Mix with one and a half sheng of water. Drink on an empty stomach at dawn. Additionally, peel two pieces of ginger the size of a silkworm cocoon, wrap them in several layers of Qiuye (Chinese Hackberry Leaf, *Celtis Sinensis Folium*) and Taoye (Peach Leaf, *Persicae Folium*), burn them in ash fire until extremely hot, and insert into the lower part for the duration of a meal. If dampness is severe, administer frequently for three mornings; recovery is assured.
Formula for treating worms eroding the lower part:
Hufen (Lead Carbonate, *Cerussa*)
Xionghuang (Realgar, *Realgar*)
Grind the above two ingredients into equal parts powder and apply to the Gudao (anal canal). This is also suitable for children.
Formula for treating pathological worms:
Burn horse hooves to ash and grind into powder. Mix with Zhuzhi (Pork Fat, *Suis Adeps*) and apply to a cotton string. Insert into the lower part five times daily.
Formula for treating itching of the Da Kong (anus) caused by worms:
Steam large jujubes to obtain a paste. Mix with Shuiyin (Mercury, *Hydrargyrum*) to form a roll three cun long. Wrap in silk and insert into the Da Kong overnight; the next morning, all worms will have exited. Mercury damages the intestines, so use with caution.
Formula for treating cold damage and febrile diseases causing excessive sleepiness, transforming into damp sores, with vexing pain in the four limbs and inability to eat:
Cut Yangtao (likely referring to a specific plant material, possibly *Actinidia* or similar vine bark/leaf depending on context, here translated as Sheep Peach Wood/Leaf) ten jin. Pound until soft. Soak in three dou of warm water. Sit in the solution at noon for the time it takes to cook a meal. Recovery occurs within no more than three sessions.
Formula for treating Re Bing Gu Du (heat disease gu toxin), which causes drowsiness, loss of sensation to pain, flushed face resembling drunkenness, dysentery with pus and blood. Observe the patient's lower orifice closely (described as 'jiji' or 'sousou'), redness indicates sores. Severe cases can be fatal, showing liver and lung damage. If medication fails, use fumigation:
Make a small clay jar capable of holding one sheng. Insert a bamboo tube (finger-sized) horizontally into the belly of the jar. Insert the other end shallowly into the Gudao. Place a piece of cooked Aiye (Mugwort Leaf, *Artemisiae Argyi Folium*) the size of a chicken egg in the jar and ignite it. Blow smoke from the jar opening into the person's abdomen until the mugwort is consumed. Adults may increase the amount of mugwort; reduce for children. Do not use excessively for emaciated persons, as it may harm them. Fumigate twice daily, no more than three times; the worms will die and dysentery will cease. Alternatively, grind burnt Xionghuang (Realgar, *Realgar*) into powder and fumigate in this manner.
