Formula for treating relapse due to overexertion with impending qi exhaustion, capable of reviving the seemingly dead.
*Menodong* (1 liang), *Gancao* (2 liang), Jingzao (20 pieces), *Zhuye* (cut, 1 sheng).
The above four herbs are coarsely crushed. Boil 1 sheng of *Jingmi* (Rice) in 7 sheng of water until cooked, remove the rice, add the herbs, and decoct to obtain 3 sheng of liquid. Divide into three doses. For those unable to swallow, apply the decoction to a cotton wad and drip it into the mouth; this method is effective.
Formula for treating food stagnation relapse:
Boil 2 sheng of flour in water, take the juice.
Another formula:
50 *Xingren* (Apricot Seed), decoct in 2 sheng of vinegar to obtain 1 sheng. Take orally to induce sweating.
Formula to prevent patient relapse:
Burn hair scurf into pellets the size of *Wutong* seeds, and take orally.
Formula for treating residual water retention under the heart and inability to eat one year after recovery from Cold Damage (*Shanghan*):
*Shengdihuang* (5 jin), *Baizhu* (1 jin), Haoqu (2 jin).
The above three herbs are mixed, pounded, and dried in the sun, then sifted. Take as much as fits on a "Fangcunbi" (a square-inch measure) with wine, three times daily, increasing up to two measures per dose.
Discussion: Although a woman's warm disease has healed, if her body has not fully recovered, her blood vessels and qi are not harmonized, and heat toxins remain, engaging in sexual intercourse will cause the diseased party to contract what is called "Yin Yi" disease (yin transmission).
The patient experiences heavy body sensation, heat rushing up to the chest, heaviness in the head making it difficult to lift, excessive eye discharge (or membrane), spasm and stiffness of the four limbs (or knees and calves), difficulty in urination, slack meridians, deficiency of blood and qi, exhaustion of bone marrow, weak breathing, decreasing physical strength, inability to move while lying in bed, requiring assistance to rise or fall, leading to death after prolonged suffering. Physician Zhang Miao stated that a maid servant, after recovering from illness for several tens of days, had sexual relations with six men, all of whom died.
Formula for treating transmission of disease from woman to man, or man to woman:
Burn hair from near the female genitalia, take as much as fits on a Fangcunbi, three times daily. Urination will become smooth, and slight swelling of the glans penis indicates healing. For women, use corresponding male parts, following the same method.
Formula for treating relapse due to sexual activity, with swelling and retraction of the testicles, and severe abdominal colic nearly causing death:
Take the clothes of the woman with whom intercourse occurred, and cover the man with them; he will recover immediately.
Formula to prevent patient relapse:
Take 20 fingernails/toenails from a woman, and a one-chi belt from a woman's inner garment. Burn them, and take with wine or rice water.
Formula for treating men who relapse due to sexual activity shortly after a new illness:
Burn red cloth used during menstruation, take as much as fits on a Fangcunbi. This also treats swelling and retraction of testicles into the abdomen with severe colic nearly causing death.
Formula for treating disheveled hair after illness that cannot be combed, to promote hair growth:
Use 2 jin of raw sesame oil. Untie the hair, place it in a copper sieve, and soak it in the oil. Gently comb the hair with a hairpin; it will soon become smooth and manageable.
