*Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) treats pediatric heat in the Heart organ (Zang), oral ulcers, double tongue (Chong She), and mouth thrush (E Kou).
Take five sheng of chopped Zha Gen (Celtis Sinensis Root Bark); if Zha Gen is unavailable, using Gong Cai (material for making bows/arrows) is superior.
Take this single herb, boil in ten dou of water until two sheng remain, then further reduce the decoction to obtain five he. Gently wipe the teeth several times; this is effective.
Another prescription:
For oral ulcers with spreading white membranes, take Sang Mu Zhi (Mulberry Tree Juice). First, wipe the mouth with the father's hair, then apply the mulberry juice.
Another prescription for treating pediatric mouth thrush where the infant cannot suckle milk:
Take Bai E Shi Zhi (Juice from White Goose Droppings) and drip it into the mouth; this is effective.
Another prescription:
Apply Shu Mi Zhi (Millet Juice) to the affected area.
Another prescription:
Take clean, washed tangled hair from parents, wrap it around a peach branch, dip it into Jing Hua Shui (well water drawn at dawn), face east, and use the hair to wipe the inside of the mouth. Remove the white milky film from the mouth, place it in water, rinse and strain seven times. Perform this treatment for three consecutive days. This saves and treats pediatric Yan Kou (angular cheilitis/oral sores at the corners of the mouth). For sores at both corners of the mouth:
Take Fa Hui (Hair Ash), mix with Zhu Zhi (Pig Fat), and apply externally. (Also found in *Qianjin Fang*).
Five prescriptions for pediatric oral ulcers:
*Duan Ju Fang* (Short Treatise on Diseases) prescription for pediatric oral rotting sores:
Take Yang Ru (Sheep Milk), drip gently into the mouth; recovery occurs within no more than three applications.
*Qianjin Fang* prescription for pediatric oral ulcers:
Da Qing (Indigo Naturalis, 3 fen) Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 2 fen)
Cut these two herbs, boil in three sheng of water until one sheng and two he remain. Administer one he per dose, twice daily and once at night.
Prescription by Physician Zhi Zhongzhi for pediatric oral ulcers:
Sang Mu Bai Zhi (White Juice of Mulberry Wood) Sheng Di Huang Zhi (Fresh Rehmanniae Radix Juice, each 1 he) Chi Mi (Red Honey, 0.5 he)
Mix these three ingredients, warm them, and apply to the sores in the child's mouth; recovery will follow.
Emergency prescription for pediatric oral ulcers:
Soak She Tui Pi (Ophichus Skin/Snake Slough) in water until wet and soft, then wipe the sores inside the mouth one or two times; recovery will follow.
Liu Shi's prescription for pediatric oral ulcers:
Huang Bo Pi (Phellodendri Cortex, 1 liang, cut) Wu Dou (Black Soybean, 1 sheng)
Boil these two herbs in two sheng of water until two he remain. Strain the dregs, then further reduce the liquid until it resembles maltose syrup. Add a small amount of Long Nao Xiang (Borneolum Syntheticum), grind and mix well, then apply to the affected area; this is very effective.
