Weigh the above fourteen ingredients using large scales and units. Coarsely pound them, mix with honey, and divide into two portions. Place one portion into a porcelain bottle with a capacity of 4 sheng. Cover the bottle mouth with thin silk gauze and secure it with crossed bamboo strips.
Huo Xiang (Agastache Rugosa Herb), Mu Xu Xiang (Medicago Sativa Aromatic), Ling Ling Xiang (Pogostemon Cablin Herb), Mao Xiang (Imperata Cylindrica Rhizome), Gan Song Xiang (Nardostachys Chinensis Root) (each 2 liang, 1 liang, 4 liang, 1 liang, 1.5 liang respectively).
Soak the above five fragrant herbs in 1 dou of water and 1 sheng of wine overnight. Decoct them in 1 dou 2 sheng of Sesame Oil (Hu Ma You) to extract the essence. Filter out the dregs and divide equally into two crucibles, each holding 1 dou. Dig a pit to place the crucibles so their rims are level with the ground. Seal the sides of the crucibles with earth. Place the bottle containing the Jia Jian mixture upside down in the center, one chi above the ground. Burn rice husks around it for three days and nights, consuming ten shi of husks. Cool down, filter through silk gauze to obtain 7 jin of Jia Jian Wax.
Take 1 jin 5 liang of Cinnabar, grind finely. Take 11 liang of Arnebiae Radix, decoct in the wax until the color is optimal. Filter through silk gauze and cool. Melt the wax over ash fire, add the Jia Jian, and stir while observing the color. If too hard, add more decoction; if too soft, add more wax. Test hardness by applying a drop to a knife blade. Melt the Arnebiae Radix in a copper pan. Prepare a bamboo tube shaped to fit the face, wrapped in paper and bound with rope. Fill with the molten balm and let cool to form the lip balm.
Mold preparation: Select dry bamboo with a diameter of 1.5 cun and length of 1.2 chi. Cut off both ends, ensuring no hard nodes remain. Split longitudinally into three parts. Remove the middle part. Join the front and back halves tightly. Coat the inside with cold Jia Jian to seal. Wrap the bottom with four layers of paper and the body with paper, ensuring no leaks, and bind securely with rope. Pour the molten balm into the mold until full. After cooling, unwrap, remove from the mold, cut into quarters, and trim neatly with a bamboo knife along the tube's edge to ensure straight cuts.
