Zhang Wenzhong recorded: Zhou Dahou, Zhengda General Pinggong Yu Li suffered from Qi-Jian-Shui (Qi combined with Water disease), with swelling of the body and face, in a critical condition near death. Yao Sengyuan, titled Lord Changshou, prescribed two formulas; upon taking them, he recovered immediately. The decoction was taken first.
Sanggen Baipi (Cortex Morus Radicis, four liang) Jupi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, two liang) Haizao (Thallus Laminariae seu Eckloniae, three liang, washed to remove saltiness) Fuling (Poria) Yuliren (Semen Pruni Persicae, crushed, four liang each) Chixiaodou (Semen Phaseoli Uradis, one sheng)
Cut the above six herbs, boil in eight sheng of water, reduce to two and a half sheng, divide into three doses. It is very effective. *Gujin Luyan* treats Qi-Shui causing body swelling and fullness. Yao Dafu treated Yan Gong, Youzhou Lucshi Yu Zhiguangxuan, saying: "It has always been known that [the patient] cannot take decoctions. The matter is urgent; do not fail to strive to take it. If you feel slightly benefited by taking this decoction, take it frequently for two or three doses; do not refuse to take it. This medicine is very easy to tolerate and will certainly have no adverse reactions. If you cannot take it, you may take the following pills; however, pills act slowly and are not suitable for emergencies."
Another formula
Jupi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, five fen) Yuliren (Semen Pruni Persicae, ten fen) Fuling (Poria, eight fen) Tingli (Semen Lepidii seu Descurainiae, six fen, stir-fried) Fangji (Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae) Sanggen Baipi (Cortex Morus Radicis, five fen each) Gansui (Radix Euphorbiae Kansui, four fen, stir-fried) Suzi (Fructus Perillae, four he)
Pound the above eight herbs and sift through a sieve. Mix with honey to form pills. Take boiled water prepared by roasting Sanggen Baipi until scorched yellow to swallow the pills. Take ten pills per dose, size like wutong seeds, twice daily. If there is no unblocking, gradually increase the dosage, usually stopping when unblocking is achieved. For those thirsty, drink this formula. Provided by Lao Jianggong to Dr. Zhang's family, it was effective. Avoid vinegar products.
