Whenever a man and woman conceive, if intercourse occurs on the first, third, or fifth day after the cessation of the woman's menstruation, the offspring will be male. If this coincides with a "Male Star" falling on a "Noble Day," and ejaculation takes place after midnight (when vital energy begins to rise), all children born will be males, destined to be long-lived, virtuous, wise, and hold high rank. If ejaculation occurs on the second, fourth, or sixth day after menstruation ceases, the offspring will be female. After the sixth day, conception cannot occur. Furthermore, encountering a "Wang Xiang Day" (auspicious days associated with the ruling element) is especially propitious.

If Spring coincides with Jiayin or Yimao days; Summer with Bingwu or Dingsi days; Autumn with Gengshen or Xinyou days; Winter with Renzi or Guihai days, and these align with the aforementioned monthly star days, it is exceptionally auspicious. (From Volume II)
The *Qianjin Yi Fang* states that those seeking offspring must administer medicines in a specific sequence, which must not be ignored. The sequence is as follows: the man takes Qizi San (Seven Seeds Powder); the woman takes Dangbao Tang (Plaster-Clearing Decoction) and applies sitz medications; both take Zishimen Dongwan (Purple Stone Winter Sweet Pill). In this manner, efficacy is assured. Those unaware of this method rarely achieve results.
*Guangji Fang* treats infertility by inserting a moxa-processed pill into the uterus:
Moschus (She Xiang, 2 fen, ground); Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus (Zaojiao, 10 fen, baked with butter, black skin and seeds removed); Zanthoxyli Pericarpium (Shujiao, 6 fen, sweat-dried).
Grind these three ingredients and sieve them. Form pills the size of Sour Jujube Seed (Suanzaoren) using honey. Wrap each pill in silk cotton and insert it into the reproductive organ (vagina/uterus), leaving a short thread outside. If chills or excessive, unclean discharge occur, withdraw the thread to remove the pill. Replace once daily, regardless of day or night, with no taboos.
Another prescription:
Cnidii Fructus (Chuanshuangzi); Halitum (Shiyan); Asari Radix (Xixin); Zingiberis Rhizoma Dryum (Ganjiang); Thladianthae Radix (Tuguagen) (each 4 liang).
Grind these five ingredients into a powder. Take an amount the size of a jujube pit, wrap in silk cotton, and insert into the uterus, pushing it in with a finger according to the previous method. During treatment, coitus must be avoided until the condition resolves; otherwise, there are no taboos. (From Volume III)
Another prescription for treating various women's diseases and restoring fertility: Baiwei Wan (Baiwei Pill):
Baiwei; Xixin; Houpo (baked); Jiao (sweat-dried); Jiegeng; Biejiar (baked, each 5 fen); Fangfeng; Dahuang; Fuzi (processed); Shiliuhuang (each 6 fen, ground); Mumeng; Renshen; Sangshang Jisheng (each 4 fen); Banxia (washed); Baijiangcan; Xuduan; Qinjiao; Ziwan; Duzhong; Niuxi; Mengchong (wings and feet removed, roasted); Shuizhi (each 2 fen); Zhiyingshi (ground); Poxiao; Guixin; Zhongru; Danggui (each 8 fen).
Grind these 27 ingredients and sieve them. Form pills with honey. Take 15 pills (size of Sophora Seed) with warm wine on an empty stomach, twice daily. Gradually increase to 30 pills, ensuring no vomiting or diarrhea occurs. Avoid raw/cold foods, greasy foods, maltose, blood-generating foods, Amaranthus manihot, raw green onions, raw vegetables, pork, cold water, sticky foods, and stale/foul-smelling items. (From Volume II)
*Qianjin Fang* Qizi San (Seven Seeds Powder) treats men suffering from wind-deficiency, dim vision, deficient essence and qi, and infertility, supplementing deficiencies:
Wuweizi; Mujingzi; Tusizi; Cheqianzi; Dihuang; Shuyu; Shihu; Duzhong; Lurong (baked); Yuanzhi (heart removed); Tinglizi (text error in original, likely referring to a seed); Fuzi (processed); Chuanshuangzi; Xiong (each 6 fen); Shanzhuyu; Tianxiong (processed); Huangrenshen; Fuling; Niuxi (each 5 fen); Guixin (10 fen); Bajitian (12 fen); Congrong (7 fen); Zhongru (3 fen).
Grind these 24 ingredients into a powder. Take one Cunbi (square-inch measure) with wine, twice daily. If ineffective, increase to two Cunbi. Stop when effective. Avoid raw/cold, sour/slippery foods, pork, chicken, fish, garlic, and greasy foods. Those who cannot drink wine may mix with honey to form pills. Coital methods should strictly follow the *Su Nü Jing*: conception on the first day after menstruation ends yields a male, the second day a female, the third day a male, the fourth day a female; other days do not result in pregnancy. Ejaculation should occur during Yang hours (before noon and after midnight).
Another prescription, Poxiao Dangbao Tang (Mirabilite Plaster-Clearing Decoction), treats women who have never conceived since birth or have been infertile for thirty years:
Poxiao; Mudan; Danggui; Dahuang; Taoren (skin and kernel removed, raw, total 3 liang); Xixin; Houpo (baked); Jiegeng; Shaoyao; Renshen; Fuling; Guixin; Gancao (baked); Niuxi; Juapi (each 2 liang); Mengchong (wings and feet removed, lightly roasted); Shuizhi (baked, 60 pieces); Fuzi (1.5 liang, processed).
Chop these 18 ingredients. Boil with 5 sheng of clear wine and 6 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Divide into four doses: three times daily and once at night. Space each dose by three Chen periods (two hours). Cover with blankets to induce slight sweating. If sweating does not occur in winter, use a fire brazier. This will expel accumulated blood and cold red pus resembling adzuki bean juice, caused by evil substances in the uterus, or abdominal pain due to cold weather, or irregular menstruation due to cold blood preventing conception. If the patient is weak and exhausted, continue taking it for 2-3 doses then stop. If severe nausea occurs, eat a mouthful of vinegar rice or cold slurry to stop. However, incomplete expulsion of evil substances reduces efficacy; enduring the full course is best. After one day, continue using suppositories. Note: *Qianjin Yi Fang* omits Jiegeng and Gancao. (From Volume II)
*Qianjin Yi Fang* Sitz Suppository Prescription:
Zaojiao (1 liang, baked, skin and seeds removed); Dahuang; Rongyan; Fanshi (calcined); Danggui (each 2 liang); Wuweizi; Ganjiang (each 3 liang); Xixin (3 liang); Shujiao (sweat-dried, 2 liang); Tinglizi; Kuapu (each 3 fen, *Qianjin* uses Shanzhuyu).
Grind these 11 ingredients and sieve them. Place in a light silk bag (size of middle finger, length 3 cun), fill it, and insert into the vagina. Sit comfortably, avoiding rapid walking. Remove upon urination and replace with a new one. Within one day, yellow-green cold fluid should discharge; stop when finished. Coitus may then resume, leading to pregnancy. If no discharge occurs, leave for up to ten days. (*Qianjin* lacks Tinglizi; another version adds Bisufu/Arsenic Trioxide 3 fen, same as *Guangji*). One day after using the suppository, take Zishimen Dongwan, as follows:
Zhiyingshi (ground for 7 days); Tiantaodong (each 3 liang, heart removed); Ziwei; Gancao (baked); Guixin; Mujingzi (*Qianjin* Mumeng); Wutou (processed); Dihuang; Xinyiren; Shihu; Juanbai; Yuyuliang; Danggui; Xiong (each 3 liang); Ooctopus Bone (Wuzeiyu); Niuxi; Shuyu (each 6 fen); Sangjisheng; Renshen; Mudanpi; Ganjiang; Houpo (baked); Xuduan; Shizhuyu; Xixin (each 5 fen); Baiziren (1 liang).
Grind these 26 ingredients and sieve them. Mix with honey. Take 10 pills (size of Sophora Seed) with wine, three times daily, gradually increasing to 30 pills. Observe dietary precautions strictly. (Same as *Jingxin Lu*, From Volume V)
*Yannian Fang* Sitz Medication for uterine deviation and cold stagnation causing infertility:
Chuanshuangzi (3 liang); Yuanhua (3 liang).
Grind and sieve. Form into pills the size of a jujube, place in a gauze bag, and insert into the vagina to the depth of a finger. The bag should be slightly longer; remove during defecation. Lie down as comfortable, avoiding wind and cold. (From Volume IV)
