Yannian's prescription for treating tooth mobility caused by wind-pathogen invasion.
Cortex Pruni Padus (Radix Cerasi Yushu, 3 liang, sliced) Fructus Xanthii (Sanhe, crushed).
Take the above two ingredients, add three sheng of water, decoct to obtain two sheng, and use for mouth rinsing; this is effective.
Another prescription:
Rhizoma Chuanxiong (3 liang) Radix Asari (1 liang) Radix Saposhnikoviae (2 liang) Radix Coicis (3 liang).
Sliced the above four ingredients, add six sheng of water, decoct to obtain three sheng, remove the dregs, and use for mouth rinsing; do this three to five times daily. Discontinue when cured.
According to *Qianjin Fang*, gingival recession and exposure are mostly caused by *gan*-worms (parasitic infestation affecting oral health) and lunar eclipses.
Burn *Juehao* (Artemisia rupestris) to ash, apply between the gums at night until full; it will cure within two or three applications. Strictly avoid greasy foods, sugar, dried dates, and Cinnamon Twig. This is crucial.
Another prescription:
Every morning, take a pinch of salt into the mouth, hold warm water to dissolve it, and use the mixture to brush teeth one hundred times. This can be done long-term to make teeth firm and tight.
Furthermore, frequent dental diseases in ordinary people are often caused by eating and drinking during lunar eclipses. Those with knowledge should be particularly cautious. Therefore, during the period when the sun or moon eclipse has not yet recovered, food and drink are strictly prohibited, even for children.
Earthworm feces, mixed with water to form a thick mud ball, fired in fire until extremely red, then powdered like flour. Mix with pig lard from the twelfth lunar month, apply on the gums three times daily; discontinue when cured.
Another prescription for *gan*-worms eroding tooth roots:
Place Fulonggan (Caulis Longan / Hearth Earth) on a stone, add a pinch of salt, which turns into water after a moment. Dip dough into this water, wait until it thickens, and apply to the affected area.
Another prescription:
Remove the skin of Gleditsia Sinensis (Zaojiao), roast and powder it, apply topically, and the worms will emerge.
Another prescription:
Grind the wick residue of pure hemp seed candles, mix with well water, and apply.
Another prescription:
Black Antelope Fat and Semen Hyoscyami (Langdangzi) in equal parts.
Mix the above two ingredients. First, heat the socket of a hoe until red and place them inside. When smoke emerges, cover the head with a cloth sheet and inhale the smoke through the mouth. (All extracted from Volume 6)
Zhang Wenzhong's prescription for *gan*-worms:
Decoct Cortex Lycii (Gouqizi Baipi) in one sheng of strong vinegar until half a sheng remains, and use for mouth rinsing; the worms will emerge. *Jiang Sheng Lun* states: "When the gums are soft and weak without pus or blood, and there is halitosis... [text fragment] ...this treats all oral diseases. The ointment must be prepared in the twelfth lunar month to last one year; otherwise, it cannot be stored long."
Good Beef Tallow (5 daliang) Beeswax (0.5 liang) Realgar (1 xiaoliang, finely ground) Cinnabar (2 fen, finely ground) Rhizoma Ligustici (Ban daliang) Veratrum (2 fen) Semen Armeniacae Amarum (4 fen, skin and tip removed) Rhizoma Chuanxiong Angelicae Dahuricae (Baizhi) Muraena (Conger Eel) Rhizoma Cimicifugae (Shengma) (each 3 fen).
Decoct the eleven ingredients in beef tallow. Fry the eel until yellow, remove the eel, and perform the "three up and three down" decoction technique. Add wax and continue decocting until foam dissipates and the ointment is formed. Store in a vessel, stirring continuously until solidified. According to the original method, pulverize all herbs together; retaining the dregs is also beneficial.
Another prescription for brushing teeth with Shengma:
Rhizoma Cimicifugae (0.5 liang) Angelicae Dahuricae (Baizhi) Rhizoma Ligustici Semen Asari Rhizoma Cyperi (Chenxiang) (each 3 fen) Arseniosum Album et Rubrum / Calcitum (Hanshuishi, 6 fen, finely ground).
Pulverize and sieve the above six ingredients into a powder. Every morning, soften the end of a willow branch by biting, dip it into the medicine, and brush teeth. The teeth will become fragrant and clean. Another version suggests using Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao) and Dentalium (Beichi) each 3 fen, and Moschus (Shexiang) 1 fen. This is especially excellent.
