[Pathogenesis] There are cases where a person suddenly develops an excessive appetite, deviating from their normal portion. Due to hunger and encountering raw green onions (Allium fistulosum), they consume them in large quantities, subsequently vomiting out a meat-like mass with mouths around its periphery, after which the illness is cured. Hence, it is termed "Food Syndrome" (Shi Zheng). This is specifically due to unfortunate circumstances leading to such anomalous manifestations forming a syndrome, rather than being a disease caused by excessive consumption of cold or raw foods. (From Volume 19)
Guangji Formula for treating Food Syndrome and curing it by eating green onions:
A person consumed seven sheng of rice, along with mutton fat cakes, without limit in number. Passing by on the road while extremely hungry, they hastily ate raw green onions. Shortly after, they vomited out a solid object, thin and round, with countless mouths around its periphery. Immediately offering food to it caused it to dissolve instantly. It ceased only after consuming seven sheng of rice. After vomiting this object, the person's abnormal eating disorder was cured. This is named "Food Syndrome," with no dietary restrictions needed. (From Volume 2)
Qianjin Formula for treating syndromes formed by eating fish and meat, knotting inside the abdomen, and various toxic vapors:
Dog feces (five sheng)
Take the above single ingredient, burn it to ash, and grind it into powder. Wrap it in silk, soak it in one dou of wine for two nights, filter to obtain the clear liquid, and divide it into ten doses. Take three doses daily, finishing within three days. Depending on the food ingested, the pathological knot will be expelled accordingly. (From Volume 11)
[Pathogenesis] There are cases where hair is accidentally swallowed during eating or drinking, entering the stomach with food to form a syndrome. The sensation is that something like a worm moves up and down in the chest and throat. (From Volume 19)
Guangji Formula for treating Hair Syndrome, which arises from swallowing hair during meals; over time, there is a sensation in the chest as if a worm is moving up and down. The method involves drinking oil:
Oil (one sheng)
Take the above single ingredient, decoct it with Xiangze (Fragrant泽, likely referring to a fragrant plant oil or essence), store it in a large bronze vessel. Place it beside the patient's head, allowing the patient's mouth and nose to be near the oil surface, but do not let them drink it, nor apply it to the nose and face. Ensure it emits fragrance. Call upon the patient to drink it, but do not give it directly. Wait until the patient is exhausted and falls asleep. The Hair Syndrome will then exit through the mouth along with the drunk oil. A person must guard closely and prepare thick vegetable soup. The shape of the expelled matter will correspond to the length of the hair, with no dietary restrictions needed. (Same as Qianjin)
Another formula for treating the sensation of worms moving up and down in the chest and throat, where there is a specific craving for the aroma of fried green onions and fermented soybeans:
Fry green onions and fermented soybeans in oil until fragrant. Fast for two days, lie with mouth open. Place the fried green onions and fermented soybeans near the mouth. The worms will gradually emerge, and slowly guide them out with tools. No restrictions apply. (From Volume 2)
