*Guangji Fang* treats Hongjiao (foot swelling, pain, numbness, etc.) rushing to the heart causing chest tightness. Foot-washing and soaking decoction:
One *shi* of millet bran placed in a cauldron.
Boil the above single ingredient extensively to obtain a concentrated decoction. Remove the dregs, add one *dou* of *Zhuomu* (Seed of Zanthoxylum), boil for more than ten boils, soak the feet three to five times. If it cools, warm it up and soak/wash; stop when symptoms resolve. No dietary restrictions.
Another formula treating Hongjiao urgently rushing to the heart with severe chest tightness approaching death:
*Binglang* (Areca Seed) (3 pieces, finely powdered) *Shengjiang* (Fresh Ginger Juice) (3 *he*) *Tongzi Xiaoshui* (Child's Urine) (2 *sheng*, fresh, need not be warmed).
Mix the above three ingredients and take once. The rebellious Qi will subside shortly. If not fully cured, taking it again is best. Bowel movement three times is sufficient. No dietary restrictions.
Another formula treating Hongjiao with vexation and chest tightness, rapid breathing, and inability to lie down comfortably:
*Xbanxia* (Pinellia Rhizome) (1 *shi*, washed with hot water to remove slipperiness) *Shengjiang* (Fresh Ginger) (8 *liang*) *Guixin* (Cinnamon Twig Heart) (3 *liang*) *Binglang* (Areca Seed) (1.5 *liang*, powdered).
Cut the above four ingredients. Boil in 8 *sheng* of water until reduced by half. Add the Areca Seed powder. Decoct to obtain 2.8 *sheng*. Strain and remove dregs. Divide into three warm doses. Take one dose every interval equivalent to walking 5-6 *li*. Stop when mild purgation occurs.
Another formula treating Hongjiao attacking the heart with chest tightness, abdominal distension, rapid breathing, and approaching death:
*Wuzhuyu* (Evodia Fruit) (3 *shi*) *Mugua* (Chaenomeles Fruit) (cut, 2 *he*) *Binglang* (Areca Seed) (20 pieces, crushed) *Zhuye* (Bamboo Leaf) (cut, 2 *shi*).
Take the above four ingredients. Boil in 1 *dou* of water to obtain 3 *sheng*. Divide into three doses. Cured when effective purgation occurs. Avoid raw vegetables, cooked flour, buckwheat, garlic, etc.
Another formula treating Kidney Deficiency Wind, Hongjiao rushing to the heart, Hernia descending, frequent urination, cold knees and lower back pain, intermittent chest tightness, rapid breathing approaching death, and limb weakness: *Shegan Wan* (Belamcanda Pill):
*Shegan* (Belamcanda Rhizome) (6 *fen*) *Kunbu* (Laminaria Thallus) (8 *fen*, washed) *Tongcao* (Tetrapanax Medulla) (4 *fen*) *Xijiao* (Rhinoceros Horn) (6 *fen*, shaved) *Xingren* (Apricot Seed) (1 *fen*, skin and tip removed, roasted)
*Hanfangji* (Stephania Root) (8 *fen*) *Fuling* (Poria) (6 *fen*) *Qingmuxiang* (Illicium Root) (8 *fen*) *Xuanfuhua* (Inula Flower) (4 *fen*) *Baitouweng* (Pulsatilla Root) (4 *fen*) *Duhuo* (Angelica Pubescens Root) (6 *fen*) *Tinglizi* (Descurainia Seed) [Quantity missing in text]
Pulverize the above twelve ingredients. Mix with honey to form pills the size of a wu tree seed. Take 20 pills with wine, gradually increasing to 30 pills. Take twice daily. If no purgation, take on an empty stomach. Boiling Areca Seed and Mulberry Root Bark is also beneficial. Avoid raw vegetables, hot noodles, buckwheat, garlic, roasted meat, sticky foods, and vinegar. (All from Volume 1)

Cut the above eleven ingredients. Boil in 8 *sheng* of water to obtain 2.4 *sheng*. Divide into three doses. Wait the time it takes to walk 10 *li* between doses. Stop when Qi descends and urination becomes smooth. Avoid raw green onions and vinegar.
Another formula treating Hongjiao numbness and insensitivity, weak legs, swollen and powerless feet, severe cases with lower abdominal fullness, chest oppression, vomiting upon seeing food, or immobility of both thumbs, or urinary difficulty. First, for Qi fullness, vomiting, and inability to eat: *Xuanfu Yinzi* (Inula Drink):

Wait the time it takes to walk 10 *li* between doses. Stop when Qi descends and urination is promoted. Avoid vinegar, peaches, plums, sparrow meat, and raw green onions.
Also, *Xijiao Mahuang Tang* (Rhinoceros Horn and Ephedra Decoction):
*Xijiao* (Rhinoceros Horn) (2 *liang*, shaved) *Mahuang* (Ephedra Herb) (2 *liang*, nodes removed) *Gancao* (Licorice Root) (1 *liang*, roasted) *Fuling* (Poria) (2 *liang*) *Fangji* (Stephania Root) (2 *liang*) *Huangqin* (Scutellaria Root) (1 *liang*) *Shigao* (Gypsum Fibrosum) (3 *liang*) *Fuzi* (Aconite Lateral Root) [Text implies Fuzi/Gui, likely Aconite based on context] (1 *liang*) *Danggui* (Angelica Sinensis Root) (1 *liang*) *Shengjiang* (Fresh Ginger) (3 *fen*) *Xixin* (Asarum Root) [Quantity missing] (1 *liang*).

If cured but feet remain weak, take *Duhuo Xijiao Tang* (Angelica Pubescens and Rhinoceros Horn Decoction) for 2-3 doses to recover.
Also, *Duhuo Xijiao Tang* (Angelica Pubescens and Rhinoceros Horn Decoction):
*Duhuo* (Angelica Pubescens Root) (3 *liang*) *Xijiao* (Rhinoceros Horn) (2 *liang*, shaved) *Shihu* (Dendrobium Stem) (2 *liang*, boiled first) *Danshen* (Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root) (2 *liang*) *Cezi* (Aconite Lateral Root) (1 *liang*, processed) *Fangfeng* (Saposhnikovia Root) (2 *liang*) *Fangji* (Stephania Root) (4 *liang*) *Guixin* (Cinnamon Twig Heart) (1.5 *liang*).

After taking, lie down as desired; do not induce sweating. Take 2-3 doses, then one dose every five days. Initially, feel Qi dispersing in abdomen and strength returning to legs. May stop immediately if effective.

Wen Zhong's formula for Hongjiao vexation and inability to eat:
*Niuru* (Cow Milk) (small *sheng*) *Xingren* (Apricot Seed) (49 pieces) *Jupi* (Citrus Peel) (1 *fen*, cut) *Shengjiang* (Fresh Ginger) (1 *liang*, cut).
Decoct the above four ingredients together to obtain 8 *he*. Take on an empty stomach in one go. Those with deficiency may have mild purgation without distress. Proven effective. (Same as *Beiji Fang*)
Another formula for Toxin attacking the heart approaching death, modified from Su Gong's *Mugua* two-ingredient formula:
*Wuzhuyu* (Evodia Fruit) (4 *shi*) *Dan Zhuye* (Light Bamboo Leaf) (cut, 1 *shi*).
Boil the above two ingredients in 1 *dou* of water to obtain 2 *sheng*. Strain. Divide into five doses. Also treats upper Qi swelling and fullness. Su Gong says: Very effective. Compared to adding crushed *Binglang* (Areca Seed)... *Jupi* (Citrus Peel)... Taking this decoction warms and removes cold distension.
If Toxin attacks the heart, cutting off pulses in hands and feet, it is difficult to save. Reluctantly made this decoction; 7-8 out of 10 recover. (*Qianjin Fang* says treat Hongjiao entering abdomen causing distress and abdominal distension: *Wuzhuyu Tang*):
*Wuzhuyu* (Evodia Fruit) (6 *shi*) *Mugua* (Chaenomeles Fruit) (2 pieces, cut).
Boil the above two ingredients in 1.3 *dou* of water to obtain 3 *sheng*. Divide into three doses. Recovery via vomiting or sweating is possible. Su Gong says recovery is easy. But...

Cut the above six ingredients. Boil in 1 *dou* of water to obtain 3 *sheng*. Divide into three doses. Highly effective. Especially good at breaking toxins. (Same as *Beiji Fang*)
Another formula for Hongjiao entering abdomen causing chest tightness:
Drink a large *sheng* of thickly boiled soybean juice. If not relieved, drink more. Highly verified. (Same as *Beiji Fang*)
Another formula for Hongjiao entering heart causing suffocation approaching death:
*Xbanxia* (Pinellia Rhizome) (3 *liang*, washed and cut) *Shengjiang Zhi* (Fresh Ginger Juice) (2.5 *sheng*).
Add *Xbanxia*, boil to obtain 1.8 *sheng*. Divide into four doses. Extremely effective. Avoid mutton and malt sugar. (Same as *Beiji Fang*, from Volume 9)
Su Gong said: If wind-heat is mild, but toxin enters stomach causing only chest vexation, seeking water to sprinkle on chest/face, dry heaving, screaming, approaching death, this *Xijiao Tang* (Rhinoceros Horn Decoction) is effective:
*Xijiao* (Rhinoceros Horn, shaved) *Qingmuxiang* (Illicium Root) *Lingyangjiao* (Saiga Antelope Horn, shaved) *Renshen* (Ginseng Root) *Zhuru* (Bamboo Shavings) *Chenxiang* (Aquilaria Wood) *Shegan* (Belamcanda Rhizome) (each 2 *liang*) *Maimendong* (Ophiopogon Tuber, heart removed)

*Binglang* (Areca Seed) (6 pieces).
Pulverize the above single ingredient. Take half a *sheng* of child's urine, slightly warm, mix with powder. Forcefully take half at once. If no movement after cooking time, take remaining half similarly. Passages clear = good. Very excellent.
Another formula for Hongjiao shoulder-lifting panting and rushing to heart:
*Wudou* (Black Soybean) (2 *dou*).
Boil the above single ingredient in 5 *dou* of water until reduced to 1.5 *dou*. Pour into two old porcelain jars. Soak each foot in one jar. Have someone stroke from knee downwards. Stroke 100 times; must cure. If no porcelain jar, use non-leaking old clay jar. Severe cases may need one more soak; must cure.
Also, Modified *Qingmuxiang Wan* (Illicium Root Pill):
*Kunlun Qingmuxiang* (Illicium Root from Kunlun) (6 *fen*) *Dafu Binglang* (Areca Seed) (7 *fen*) *Guixin* (Cinnamon Twig Heart) (4 *fen*) *Shaoyao* (Peony Root) (6 *fen*) *Zhishi* (Immature Bitter Orange) (7 *fen*, roasted) *Dahuang* (Rhubarb Root) (10 *fen*).
